^^ yeah it is, and its quite fun............

there is a long street of bazaars. They sell dried fruits, Afghan jewelry, traditional dresses, Qurans, cds & dvds, etc.....and they have many performances.....they also have very good kababs.

not going to even bother with Master khans comment.

          Re: Nowroz

What are people so uptight about a Persian holiday? Yet in Pakistan everyone is so fond of adapting to Punjabi culture.

If Miss doctor wants to celebrate Nowruz, Let her do it. Just cause she wants to celebrate with Persans does not eliminate her.

Ridiculous man, Miss doctor, My utmost respect for you of starting this thread, Keep up the good work. You are teaching people here something new.

And Yes I am from Pakistan, Waziristan.

NowRoz passed me by like a wet Tuesday when I was growing up, but now I find myself picking up cell phone messages with NowRoz greetings wishing me all the best.

I'm one of those rather flippant people who is prepared to walk into a room of 600 assembled and seated people on Christmas eve walk on to the stage, stand before a microphone, clear my throat and say "Bah Humbug!" and then walk right through the crowd and out the front door.

... Actually, I'm not that mean, but you get the picture and 600 people and microphones actually don't bother me ... I'm just learning with time to let some things go and so I guess I don't need 600 instant enemies ....

... Anyway that brings me back to NowRoz. Like Basant and kite flying, the coming of Easter/the Spring Equinox etc. ... it's just another glammed up pagan festival.

I'll bite the bullet on this one since NowRoz is a little closer to home and if not for anyone else, then for my mother's sake who thinks the world of my Iranian friend and his Afghan wife, I'll acknowledge that today is NowRoz.

So afghans also celebrate it, i thought only chitralis and gilgatis celebrate it.

I am surprized that many members here are disturbed and surprized that afghan side pashtuns are celebrating nauroz... afghanistan is much persianized than you can imagine.
