People sometimes seem to try to desperately to change the appearance which they have been blessed with by Allah subhana wa ta'laa.
We change the form of our eyebrows, we draw in our eyebrows, we tattoo them in, we shave them out, we wear colored contact lenses, we paint our lips and cheeks red, we use Safeda on our skin, we bleach our skin, we bleach our hair, we dye our hair, we tan, we curl our hair, we straighten our hair, we wear high heels, we undergo plastic surgery, etc etc.
And all that just to change who we truly are. Pale people tan and tan people bleach their skin. I've seen ghanamrangi girls wearing blue contact lenses and embarrassing themselves by doing so. I've seen African Americans dying their hair blonde, green, blue uhhh you name it. I've seen Scandinavian girls tan and Desi girls bleach their skin.
We sometimes forget that what we are and how we look, eventually is a gift from God. He made us this way, gave us this nose, this eye color and this hair color because it goes well together, it's aesthetic, it matches us - this is how we look best. Who do we take ourselves for that we are trying to correct Allah swt's creation?
I'm a firm believer that people look best in their natural appearance. Sure, we can enhance that appearance but we should never attempt to change it.
