It is a fish called Alepisaurus, faye you are partly right, this fish enters the deep sea but can be found also close to the surface. It is not uncommon in places like britain i think.

I recently watched The Hunter, starring Dafoe. I really liked the movie and it features this creature, a Tasmanian tiger. The premise was that this assumed extinct animal had been spotted and there was now a bounty on its head, fur, flesh, any part as long as its DNA may be extracted for cloning.

It's not a tiger but a carnivorous marsupial, last one shot in 1933.

that last photo looks horrible. what are they doing to the bat?
bat colonies are really smelly and they can be a noisy mob for neighbours. they also spread diseases.
some towns in australia have a big problem with bat invasions but are not allowed to kill them and have restrictions on how they are allowed to get rid of them.

as far as i know flying bats are protected and one can get permission from the government, in dire cases of them overpopulating an area, to shoot some.
the only way i have heard is by noise during the day, to disturb their sleep time.
they nest in the trees in the thousands.

come on what? you ever lived near a bat colony? they stink terribly, spread fatal diseases and are screeching during the day. thousands at once, not just one at a time.
they are cute to look at, though.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
