learn urdu. it's a lot more beneficial and similar to dari and pashto. reading it would be easier too because of their script.

Are you Christian because you are typing this in English?Originally posted by unknownprincedo you also want to be a Hindu?? thats a joke.
As for the topic - Urdu would probably be easier for you to pick up here, and when you move there, you can pick up the few terms that are different in the local accent. I don't think pure Hindi without any Urdu terms and only Sanskrit terms is used anywhere where you'd need it. =/

Nice Feroza! I guess Bollywood and Ekta Kapoor's soaps are at work here.Originally posted by Feroza_Banu View Postto is main kia barri baat hai... agar tumhain main jo likh rahi hoon woh samajh a rahi hai to tumhain urdu aur hindi dono ati hai

@DKG - Urdu and Hindi are 95% same. They have a common base, a language called Hindustani that developed in Northern India. Urdu speakers mix a few Persian/Arabic words into Hindustani to make it Urdu, whereas Hindi speakers mix Sanskrit words into Hindustani to make it Hindi.

LOL thanks... ! but no, I finished my grade school in Pakistan. I grew up there... attended school for 10 years... I am fluent in Urdu than Pashto and Dari...Originally posted by KhalsaWarrior View PostNice Feroza! I guess Bollywood and Ekta Kapoor's soaps are at work here.

but the indian soaps are truely very helpful in learning "shudh hindi"... (i.e. the sanskrit part)
I understand shudh hindi very well now. it has got to do with years of watching bollywood movies, and Indian dramas
...
