I don't remember going any immigration case because my mum was born in Hong Kong and at that time it was part of britain , so we got our passport easily.

My family has gone through an immigration case in the past. We won, the law was changed.

Anyway, regarding marriages, the best thing to do if you are marrying back home is if you go back to get engaged, do it with lots of pomp, takes lots of pictures, and get a nikah nama made out.

Then come back after your engagement and present them with the nikah nama (proving you are married) and the pictures you took. This way, by the time you actually go and get married, your case will have moved along substantially.

I know several couples who did this and by the time the real wedding took place, the immigrant spouse was ready to move to the new country as well.

yes i went through for my husband... it took 6 months from the day i filed for him till the day he got his visa... went pretty smoothly... i filed for him as a fiancee not husband... i prepared everything myself... and me being a perfectionist, i didn't leave any room for question when i first sent the application. it was 100% complete.

Gerry's is the company that carries the documents to the British High Commission.

I get paid quite good every month and annually, I have a house, and pay around over 300/400 pound in tax every month, but still they tend to give it more to others, like I knew one person who doesn't even work, drives a taxi now and then, and he got his wife over in three weeks of applying.

I am from a good family who is kinda well off, I waited a whole year just to get to court and get told the visa was to be issued few months ago but passport is missing, luckily passport is found and re-submitted.

Its all about Luck and when your documents get seen. But there is a lot of corruption there and I am 100 percent sure Gerry's who transport the documents, must have seen that my wife is from South Waziristan and took her Nikah Nama out by purpose.
Man, it's all the corruption that's behind it. I sympathize with your story. I wonder if they knew about your background in advance so they could just get a double payment out of you.

When they find out that someone is well off, why not get them to pay 2 or even 3 times right? And then they wonder why the country isn't progressing as it should be.

actually shamaar its not the british goverment from here tell those people back there to delay cases he wont get nothing done until next year they have a system where they let in a certain amount of people and once those are in and number is full the rest of the files get pushed to the back so they put pretend letters asking for more proof or loosing the nikah namas on purpose my father is friends with robert reid who use to be the head of home office but you should always have a few original copies of the nikah namas

Other thing is I suspect some Punjabi or some other "Kwatanay" saw that she is from South Waziristan and though hey lets just destroy her chances and give them misery, because roara, Gerry's always make's sure that all documents are present before dispatching, that is why you pay that extra for it.

Its heart breaking and terrible period, I am happy now as her passport has been found due to the Pressure of my Local MP( who also happens to be a Jew lol haha) wrote to them and warned them not to mess his voter about.

If nobody took notice, it would have went on for years, but I never gave up.
I admire your persistence ror jaan. One should never give up in matters like this or they can be delayed indefinitely. It is a shame that people take unduly advantage of these types of situations whether it is for personal gain or simply out of spite.

Thanks for that insight kakargirl. I do understand that they only allow a certain number of people into the country each yeah, but I wasn't aware of these "under the table" dealings of denying the presence of supporting documentation.
