Here's the thing though. There are two types of people - people who care about their appearances and people who aren't really bothered. I know girls and guys who are meticulous about their clothes, hair and overall demeanor so to speak and I know people who just put on whatever their hands can reach in their closets.

It's not just with girls only. There are guys who work out, care about what clothes and colognes they wear, stay in shape, etc and then there are guys who have no sense of style because they just aren't bothered.

To be honest, even the most Jihadi girls here wouldn't marry a guy with a fully-grown beard and a trimmed mustache even though that's how the Sunnah dictates men should look like. They'd say "oh, it's not mandatory for them to look like that". But for a Muslim who follows the correct path, that style is necessary.

Islam Question and Answer - Ruling on cleaning eyebrows

and I am sure people know how to research/read/ ask knowledgeable people InshaAllah ...

I understand the two people thing, people who care about their appearance and people who don't ...BUT... just because a person doesn't do a certain thing that everyone else might do, that does not mean they don't or they do care about their appearance... Looking after yourself hygiene wise, dressing clean... stuff like that...is what I feel falls more into the caring about one's appearance.

Just because certain sisters might not find the beard or whatever attractive, that doesn't mean the guy doesn't care about himself ... either...

As someone said ... the two things here being discussed, "don't have anything to do with eachother."

I can understand why the situation in the West makes Muslims follow instructions in Hadith as though they're mandatory.

Here, where 95% of the population is Muslim, I've met no girl who doesn't get her eyebrows done. Even the Hijabi-sort get them done.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

In the west a lot of girls get their eyebrows done too, I can't give you any kinda stats as I don't have such information in my hands ...but you're not getting the point I am trying to make ...

A girl ...might NOT do her eyebrows based on what she believes islamically...this doesn't mean she doesn't care about her appearance...

As for those hijabis that don't want a guy with the sunnah beard, the sunnah beard guys prob don't want the hijabis who pluck or do whatever to their eyebrows....

Let's put religion to the side for a second (altho we tech shouldnt...but for arguments sake). There is/was a cultural thing within SOME afghan and pakistanies that, they dont fix their eyebrows before they are engaged or married, and after marriage they start "fixing their eyebrows."

Does this mean they dont care about themselves before marriage and all of sudden start taking care of themselves after marriage? This can be for your husbands sake, but it still doesn't make sense that before she didn't care and now all of a sudden she seems to care... everyone goes through phases in life, sometimes they care about their appearance sometimes they don't ...but threading / waxing / plucking your eyebrows isn't going to determine that.

Same here. Almost every single Indian shop does it, and so since there's a lot of competition, each one tries to do it cheaper than the others. Two of them (both direct neighbors of each other!) do it for $4, even! The South Asian community here is one of the largest in the U.S., so they're always busy.

Aw come on . . . all they're doing is teaching you what's wrong and right in "Islam," and, as they say, it's haraam to shape your eyebrows. It's their "obligation" to guide you to the "right" path, and it's your obligation to listen Just saying!

                Thick eyebrows are beautiful =)

Personally.. I think whatever shape your eyebrows are, is perfect for your face. If they're tooo "out there" and look very unclean.. then I think trimming them is ok, even plucking a few hairs here and there to clean it up a little is fine.. Just as long as you don't change the overall shape of them =) Because if you do thin them out too much, you're likely to change the shape.. and this will happen:

And I'll have to ask for a bag again to puke in it =(

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..

Dalta za yao & yakta yam, halta zar zma pa Shaan

Someone should sit down with Keira Knightley and feed her paenda for one straight week.
