if your into fashion then why would you wear a scarf in the first place, i mean isnt the whole point to not draw attention to ones self???
besides a woman is covering her whole body and you STILL perv on the only peice of skin that is showing, thers something wrong with you.----------

^I agree. When I read the title I just shook my head.
Hijab fashion?? lol
It reminds me of the people who wear tight jeans, sleevless tops, "figure-hugging" clothes, tons of make-up...and then a hijab on top! Where I study there are lot's of supposed 'Muslims' like that.
If you don't want to attract the attention of males then wear a hijab. If you do want to then don't wear one.....You can't go half & half! It just doesn't work that way....as if wearing a hijab somehow cancels out the effect your make-up and clothing have...
But then as you say, there'll always be certain perverts who will even perv over someone with modesty and someone who obviously does not want such attention like swati the 'brave' over here..
The whole concept of fashion and appealing others and wearing clothes that everyone thinks are cool is so stupid in my opinion..
It's just a tool for the big companies to make money off people's own insecurities.---

Fashion does not necessarily mean lots of makeup on, tight clothing, skin tight tops. Fashion is an expression of one that wants to portray some sort of style. I cannot see what the original post to this thread is because it is one of the very old threads started by an ex-active user. However, my guess is that the point of this thread regarding 'Fashion Hijab' maybe different styles, patterns, and color of scarfs for the hijab wear. My concept of fashion is appealing oneself not others, however, within limits.

That is simply an observation that I have made with every female Muslim where I study and many of the young female Muslims I see on a daily basis.Originally posted by Laila View PostFashion does not necessarily mean lots of makeup on, tight clothing, skin tight tops.
They do it in the name of fashion and 'fitting in'....I mean why else would they do that?
And then what is the point of wearing a hijab alongside that?
Regardless, the title: "Hijab fashion" is an oxymoron.Originally posted by Laila View PostFashion is an expression of one that wants to portray some sort of style. Hijab draws attention away from the wearer.
Fashion draws attention towards the wearer, whether it is intentional or not.
Why would you look for different pretty colours, patterns and styles of hijab? Hijab is by its nature not meant to look pretty and appealing.
The purpose of fashion is to wear clothes that appeal to you, that is correct. But whether you intend it or not, 'fashionable' clothes will often result in drawing more attention from others to yourself. Fashionable clothes are more appealing to others than normal boring clothes.Originally posted by Laila View PostMy concept of fashion is appealing oneself not others, however, within limits.
For example, highlighting your hair different colours and styling it. This might appeal to you but it would also more than likely appeal to others as well. Resulting in unwanted attention.
You wear a hijab to hide your hair and protect yourself from such attention. So why bother making the hijab look nice and pretty which would offset its purpose?---
