Its an intelligent question asked, She is wondering if girls wear it. Pashtanas back home do not wear sleeveless shirts outside, Such comments make me doubt if you have even ever been back home. Its a smack in the face in the Islamic modesty of our respected Pashtanas.

I absolutely agree with you, the only ones ive seen who wear it are those living in non pashtun areas. Sleeveless tops is not a pashtun woman thing.

So you're telling me you haven't adopted anything foreign? Zilch? You wear your pakol and kameez partug everywhere (that is if you are living in a Western country)? Because, if you don't, dude, everyone knows what it means to wear a patlun on the streets of Pakistan/Afghanistan and I think those same connotations apply elsewhere ...
I cover myself morrally, i do not wear tight shirts with shorts in public.

Women in the west wear short sleeves and high heels to attract boys or to indulge in immoral activities.

So you proved my point, you will even wear bikini to please those in the west as your point made it very clear. To cover ones self does not mean you have to wear traditional clothing, but it doesnt mean you wear short sleeves and high heels as an excuse.

But what is wrong with a women wearing sleeveless shirts in front of her Husband? I am sure you would love it perhaps.
However, I do agree, The majority of the women that wear high heels, skinny jeans and sleeveless shirts beg for Men attention. In fact, I believe marketing agrees with this.

No why do women wear booty shorts? I think we know the answer, especially the ones with writings on the back. Its begging for attention. Now where do I disagree with you? The fact that you are generalizing about our members here. Where do I disagree with the ladies? Yes you have good intentions (Maybe) but its very well established that a guy would turn around, break his neck, or attempt to sexually assault, harass a woman that is wearing heels, skinny jeans and sleeveless shirts as compared to a woman wearing Hijab.

Kurey...I was not speaking about at home, iam speaking about those who go around in public wearing such immoral clothing to attract boys even if they dont know it themselves for which i doubt.

Why does it matter if anyone wears short sleeves or not? I doubt any girl on here is gonna say, "I wear short sleeves." or "I wear shorts"... even though we know that a lot of Pashtuns back home wear short sleeves, and they don't have a problem doing it in the west either. If you disagree, open your eyes a little wider, and start observing (without judging) a little more. It may not be a part of our original culture and it's certainly influenced by others, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. You find it wrong, that's fine; that doens't mean people will stop just because you think it's wrong.

Anyway, to each, her/his own, right? So long as no one's forcing you to follow their way of life, why do WE get offended with what people wear? And why do we generalize so much?

C'mon, folks. We have so many more important things to worry about than whether a girl's arms are showing or whether she's doing something to attract a man. Again, the world doesn't revolve around men.

And... I'm *not allowed* to wear short sleeves in front of my father.

From your views i would be suprized that you would support PAshtun women wearing bikinis in your imginary world, when is the last time you ever visted your pashtunkhwa may i ask?

Women in and of the West do wear short sleeves and high heels. Why they wear them is not for either of us to judge or decide. Khuday de zhruno maalik dai, we haven't yet reached that stage where we can read people's intentions kana? You know what I find funny? When we talk endlessly about what is revealing and what attracts men and what not, but don't realise that while you may be wearing jeans or heels, it is far more modest than say someone who is wearing a size six abaya. It's the same thing. Some men will say shalwaar kamees are a modest pair of clothes (and trust me shalwaar kamees are one the most figure-fitted and attractive outfits) and some will even go as far as saying they find it attractive on women. Now you tell me, should the woman wear something like that when the other side finds it appealing? No kana. Same thing applies here with short sleeves and heels.

I think you are crossing the line on my part. I am not one who boasts or makes my intentions public, but I am left with no choice with you. Would it surprise you to know that I wear an abaya (three times my own size) in the presence of non-mahram men? Would it also surprise you to know that I wear a pashmina or scarf big enough it could pass as a khimaar? And yes, with this, considering the length of my abaya's, I wear heeled shoes because I am not someone who likes to follow suit and adopt Aussie thong culture. And I don't see anything wrong with that.

If it really was about pleasing people, considering I have grown up here and spent my entire life among non-muslims, I would have adopted their dress long, long ago. And the amount of racism that exists in this country has no match. If it is about pleasing them, then when they ripped my scarf off in 2001 after 9/11, I could have taken off my abaya and scarf. If it is about pleasing them, then when I once sat adjacent to a man who threw his chewed morsel of a Big Mac and Coke on me, I could have taken it off. If it is about pleasing them, I could have done a lot as something triggers it everday. But no, I know my limits, I know my Deen, I know my culture and I value it more than anything.

              ^MashaAllah.

Didn't read everyone's input, and I know Mesbah didn't say what she said to hear some praises, but mashaAllah, May our Ummah always be strong InshaAllah.
