I like the idea of them when worn with a 'halal' blouse but in reality I would never wear them as I'd feel too self concious about accidentally revealing something. I find it funny when bengali woman wear hijabs with saris with short sleeves......what's the point??

Brit Chick: I think it is impossible to 'accidently' reveal something. I mean considering the amount of times you wrap that material with all the pleats at the bottom, and underneath you've got the petticoat and the half-top, it could pass for a decent dress.
Personally, I don't mind the short sleeve look to it. In fact short sleeves are a favourite of mine ... with shalwaar kameez, lenghas, dresses, shirts ... just love it. Sleeveless or ones with straps would be going a bit too far I think, even though I would only ever consider wearing it among women. I mean, I hardly attend mixed gatherings anyway (not yet at least), but if I did, the Abaya is my first and last option.

Sari:

is a representation of Hindu culture.
Depending on your'e religious beliefs, this could be a one time try to I hate it.
Personally, I believe that even though Bengali/indian Muslims actually wear this but as as Muslims and Afghans, our women should never consider this for a dress even if it is for casual, rare, women only events.
I mean how can this stupid looking dress ever be better looking than our traditional Afghan dresses for women, Nah Ah! not by a long shot.

Sari's are pretty and I wouldn't say anything against them because it's part of their culture. Kushal, you're being biased and unrealistic, that picture was carefully handpicked to expose a "negative" point about sari's, and the same can be done for afghan dresses too.
However, saris are not my style lolLast edited by Dukemina; 05-06-2010, 02:25 AM.I desire that which is Just - House of Dukemina.

^^ MK, why are you always in womens thread?
anyways, i think Saris are cute, and we Muslim girls have so many ways in covering up those areas that Saris have exposed. But i only wore it once and it was my Indian friends function, so i wore it for her culture and function. But i wouldnt buy one.
