Nice, of course i liked it. Actually, I loved it. I am so proud of anyone that does something like this to represent our culture, especially when many others can learn and experience from it.

^ Okay...when you girls have the qataghani music...you girls should most definitely do the qataghani dance. Like in the second or third song that was playing...two girls should pair up each, and do qataghani with one another...but form a circle all together. It will look really nice.

Are these the same girls here:

No Sammo...i am quite impressed by it. It was well put. You girls did very well, i have to tell you that i am so proud of you. Really, i am.

I know how it feels to be on stage. You get so nervous right when the music starts, and your stomach feels like its being twisted...and you feel like you regret agreeing to it, and feel like running away from stage. Believe me, i know the feeling. But i am proud of you to sticking to it, and representing us.

Lailo gakem, isn't what you're describing there Qarsak? =/
The way I know it, that dance has a special tune to it, as well, the melody is played such that after a certain period in time (usually from one chorus to another) the pair sits down and another pair gets up. There are certain Qarsak songs, such as Qarsak Panjsher, Asheq'e Dokhtar'e Khaana, Charkh bezan etc. to which one dances such,

Qataghani is danced individually rather than in pairs.. and one isn't surrounded by a circle.. you know the regular dancing on the dance floor at weddings, as far as I know =/

But then, of course, our culture is so intertwined that there are no separating lines. However, this is how I know our dances..
Qarsak - group sits in a circle, one pair dances in the middle
                    Qataghani - people dance individually
Logari - stopdance, you dance and stop when the music stops, occasionally squat..
Attan - step dance in a circle.. we all know and love it <3

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..
Za ba da Sahra warnakam da Iran pa Golestan,
Dalta za yao & yakta yam, halta zar zma pa Shaan

LOL ha ha no i was talking about qataghani. What many do, is pair up with someone and dance qataghani. As you are doing maida maida, the person you are with, is also doing it with you. But opposite of you. Such as i am doing my qataghani, and you are doing your qataghani in your own way. I have seen many girls do it with guys. I had gone to a wedding in Kabul. And what the families did was there was a big circle. And each girl had a guy in pairs. And they would do qataghani with each other. Its hard to explain lol

Also qataghani is also meant to be a funny dance, when you kind do the oddest maida maida moves. That is why you will see many men doing the funniest things in qataghani dance.

Qarsak is totally different. Everyone is in a full circle, dancing around clapping. Then they all squat, and clap forward up and down. Then one person goes up to the middle and dances their own moves....while the people still in the circle are still clapping, WHOOing and whistling

Ohhhh haha ok ok I misunderstood you. Yeah, Qataghani has an amusing effect.
It also makes me want to take the keyboard and smash it on the singers head after the 7th time a Qataghani tune is played at a wedding. But that's a whole different story LOOL

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..
Za ba da Sahra warnakam da Iran pa Golestan,

ha ha Mayana jan, in Kabul, the whole wedding night they play qataghani over and over again lol

But now, there is a new style of qataghani moves...its a little bit slower, cant explain lol

and remember, you do not spin in qataghani dance

here is a great example of qataghani

YouTube - Rameen & Omar Sharif's New Qataghani Song AFGHAN SONG

only thing is, your not really supposed to spin....though many still do

                              I don't dance Qataghani, ever.
The only Qataghani I ever dance to is Hamelaket ba Gardan.. And I'm not gonna lie, I spin while dancing that. But that only because he speficially says "Allah tu Charkhe bezan dami Saaze Qataghan" <3
