Nas lost the battle with Jay-Z. He's diss song (I don't even know from the top of my head) was all about elementary disses about looking like a camel and having big lips. jay-z destroyed him by dissing him by real life standards: Nas isn't what he portrays as a rapper. He's not filthy rich, or been in those situations where he raps about. Jay-z subsequently signed Nas to his def jam label--talk about defeat.Originally posted by Amir al Ghaznavi View PostHell naw I love NY. I just love good music. Jay Z has RD, and Blue Print but even those are "whatever" classics
In 1996 no one knew what a Reasonable Doubt was
Most of his fan base (not all) are clueless. There is a TON of historical revisionism going on with this cat Hov. His content is garbage, he raps about nothing, his voice is that of a woman, ya he can spit when he wants to, but hes made no positive contribution to rap. He wants credit for being a "grown man" at the age of 45. I can honestly say Jay Z is easssily the most over rated rapper ever
Ill take Biggie and his 2 albums over Hov anyyyyy day of the week. I wont even mention the Nastiest.....
Check out this clever diss:
"me and the boy AI, got more in Carmen than balling and rhyming, get it more in Carmen.'
Carmen is Nas baby mother. Both Jay and Iverson have banged his baby mama, btw.
Jay-Z raps about money and hustling, presenting it with clever words and stories. His discography is close to 10 albums, man.

Alrighty kids, Jay-Z is not and was not the best rapper of all time....or whatever you want to say. Was he a good rapper? yes, in the beginning he was. Could he be in the top 50? yeah i consider that. I mean yeah i give the kid props for his early albums like Blueprint, The Black Album, and Reasonable Doubt. But you have to admit, his Kingdom Come album was simply, well mediocre to say the least. I dont know what happened there, but he did go down hill. I mean if he was the best, then he would still be spitting mad game with his music. But he is too busy producing artists and promoting his money. Come on, Beyonce has more game than he does :P Now he makes songs for booty shaking videos (oh lord). But gotta admit, his "99 Problems" was a good song. He is just overrated now. There are plenty of artists with full potential. I only credit i give him now, is that he made it big for himself.Last edited by Laila; 02-08-2012, 01:34 AM.

I would like to understand why non-NYers call him "overrated?" Kingdom Come was a great album, filled with clever lines and relatable stories. He killed "Watch the Throne." Kanye was to busy being insecure about his sexuality while Jay was throwing the lyrics. He destroyed Cash Money records in his song H.A.M.Originally posted by Laila View PostAlrighty kids, Jay-Z is not and was not the best rapper of all time....or whatever you want to say. People look for meaning to rap. There isn't one, it's just **** talking in a clever way, mixed with their biographies. You could spot fake dudes miles away, there the ones who don't have longevity.

Because he is overrated....i dont know how else to put it. Look, you cannot tell me that every one of his singles or albums were 'dope'? He was pretty strong in the beginning but then he dumbed it down. If i am not mistaken, last year Eminuem stole his title as "King of Hip Hop" according to Rolling Stone. Every artist or rapper has his good and bad times.....which is why in my opinion no one has came as 'greatest rapper.' They come out good but then they go down. Or they start off weak, but get strong. As someone from the westcoast, i dont even consider tupac, eazy e, ice cube, nwa, snoop dogg, or any other as the greatest. I consider Lil Wayne a fake rapper.....but i wont compare Jay Z to him.Last edited by Laila; 02-08-2012, 02:28 AM.

I learnt alot. Never knew he had done Hajj and learned Arabic to read the Qu'ran.
He even answers you on his fb. Good guy overall.---

deep, kais, deep. revolutionary, highly original concepts, massiiiiivvvvveeeee!!!!!!
please take into consideration, that i have been listening to hip hop, funk and rap for about 30 years. it does tend to become, same same. so now i just listen to the music and not the words.
i just was wondering if the words you wrote up, are code for some kind of 'change' to black american rappers, crapping on themselves.

WTH? If you want some deep revolutionary stuff, read Marx "Communist Manifesto" or Malcolm X "autobiography of Malcolm X" I don't understand why people expect and wanna hear some "deep" "revolutionary" messages in rap songs.Originally posted by faye View Postdeep, kais, deep. revolutionary, highly original concepts, massiiiiivvvvveeeee!!!!!!
