There is this thing about him. Few years ago he had a contract with ARY News which stated that he will not give an interview to any other TV Channel. Yet when Ismail of Khyber TV went to him he talked to him and gave him a short interview.

However I am very happy that he is a proud Pashtun and express his pride publicly.

Perfectionism and idealism are good things but ideally nothing is perfect. Something is always better than nothing. At least he speaks 75% Pashto and he appreciated Pashtuns and Afghanistan in his interview. He called Afghanistan the land of his fathers. At least he is not like many Niazis, Jadoons, Tareens and Muhammadzais who do not speak a single word of Pashto.

If you are sarounded by non-pashtuns in non-pashtun society how will you keep your language and culture alive?
pashtuns living accross indus river in punjab and hazara,s khindko dominated area lost their language and culture like many abdalis lost the language and culture in herat and in kabul etc.

There are tahirkheilis,yousufzais,tareens in haripore speak khindko the same tribes on the west of indus river speak pashtu so is that make swabiwal,bunerwal yousufzais less or qoetawal and kandari tareen less superior?
Similarly jadoons of swabi speak pashtu so as many jadoons of nangarhar and queta speak pashtu while some in mazar speak farsi and in abot khindko.

One of the main reason pashtu language could,nt servive in non-pashtun society is that it was always called a tribal language.
Others think that pashtu is only for pashtuns.Also pashtuns landlord even talk to their dehqans in their language not in pashtu.
This is what happen in attock area.

This is not the case with other language like urdu,farsi etc.
FARSIBANS will live for hundreds of years in pashtun society but will always talk in farsi.
Pashtuns lose their language and culture after 2nd or 3rd generation.
This is the main reason pashtu is suffering and pure pakhtu words are disapearing.

If we successfully include Pashto into our curriculum From school upto intermediate atleast.

40-45Million people having Pashto as compulsory subject will be a good boost for pashto

The same argument can work for Apridi too. As in Karachi and in his career he is surrounded by non Pashto speakers, that is why he cannot speak pure Pashto but we should appreciate that at least he speaks Pashto mixed with English or Urdu words not like others who cannot speak a single word of Pashto. And why you do not appreciate his admiring words for Pashtuns and Afghanistan?
