Its not a culture, it was the transfer of ownership. When women were married off, their owners changed hands so they had to take the surname of their new owner. Similar to how slaves in America would take the surname of their owner and when they were sold, they had to change their surname to their new owner.

pashtun men are easy with low morals when it comes to women who are not from the same background as them.

well yes you are right, many pashtun won't want her to be named as khattak. i don't know what cultural group she belongs to. but western culture has muslim as well. but mostly woman takes her husband last name. but the country i am living in no one is allowed to change their last names to their spouse's last name.

The most ironic thing is Heera Mandi is located just beside Pakistan's largest mosque

I wonder when non muslims see this, what they think. There is so much hypocrisy and evil in our part of the world, it's not even funny.
I doubt that prostitution is the culture of the paki people but heera mundi exists because the gov is allowing it to exist.

You could say that about men from all ethnicities not just Pashtun.

This is total BS. Any proof of this claim?

In countries where the government doesnt allow it people still go to brothels. Its because there is demand for it. Demand for prostitution comes from the society. So the society is at fault. Plus, many pakistanis vote. By voting they participate and approve the government.

Denying that the society approves heera mandi is self deceit.

Maulana Hassan jan rahmatullah alayhi said it beautifully when he was critisizing jamaat tableegh. In all these years of activism they have failed to clean up their own backyard.

men from all over the world are not generally hypocrites. Pashtuns are with very few exceptions. They will behave embarrassing in public but not want their own women looked at negatively or behaving that way. That is their "ghairat".

I think paki society is the one to blame for this. They still practise forms of mujra which were introduced by the Mughals, if they were a true islamic society, they would have shut down hera mandi a long time ago. There are even porno cinemas in peshawar for gods sake. This is how messed up the society is.

It's tradition for a bride to take her groom's surname and to give it to her kids. But given most of us know this tradition is grounded in sexist ideas about the property status of women, with marriage constituting a transfer of ownership from one male to another, I wonder why it's pervasive.

She claims all Pashtun men are like that except a few. Thats not true. But what she describes does exist.

Well, if you build it, they will come. Its the moral decay of society. The gov is the root of the problem. If it is corrupt, it will be weak to enforce anything, vice and virtue will be stripped away by those who want to make profit.

Which is why the NATO created afghan gov which is a copy of the paki gov is a threat to the future generation of the Afghans. A weak and corrupt gov will be too weak to prevent profiteers from taking the society to its moral decay.

It exists, but it exists everywhere all over the world. her first comment inferred all Pashtun men and her second comment was tuned down to "most."
She is portraying a picture as though men from other paces are saints compared to Pashtun men.
