no, muslims are NOT to respect religious idols carved in stone. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Statues are not limited to Buddhism. Statues can be found in many cultures and civilizations. Hinduism has its own statues. Even Catholicism has statues of Jesus Christ, Mary, saints and others. In England you can have statues of Catholicism and some Buddha's statues in its museums.Originally posted by khushal View Postnot really, finding statues does not mean people were Buddhist. England was filled with statues but Buddhism never reached there. Lets stick with facts and not your fantasies.
Sculpture is a great fine art. For aesthetics you can have statues and I do not consider it a sin. This is human creativity and artistic talent. Islam should not stop this human talent. Yes if you call a stone to be your real God , then it can be a sin. There is a need of revolt of such false doctrines which inhibit human creativity and artistic pursuits.
Arabs were good sculptors but after mixing religion with art, this talent was doomed and now even drawing photos is considered to be a sin.

A book also can't think but muslims die for quran, when some one burns it.Originally posted by khushal View PostBadlun, it does not take a genius to figure that Randolph was talking about the statue that is made of rock in Bamyan, not the actual person. calling a statue stupid is correct since it cant think.

This cave monkey worshippers always try so hard to let peopel forget the stupidity of taliboons, but no one will forget it.....Originally posted by Badlun View PostI have studied Buddhism in detail and for many Buddhists the statue is Buddha as each statue represent Buddha and they worship, honor and respect each statue as Buddha.
This is like Kaaba as the house of Allah for Muslims. Kaaba is also made of rock or stones/bricks but is a sacred place. Similarly each statue of Buddha is holy for Buddhists and we must respect it.
Calling a stone as stupid is again stupidity. Stone can be neither stupid nor wise but this is the symbol which matters.

Actually, the burning of the Quran symbolizes the destruction of the message. To Muslims, the Quran is the rights and freedoms guaranteed to all people so they dying for their freedom.Originally posted by Khostai View PostA book also can't think but muslims die for quran, when some one burns it.
Besides, Siddhartha never preached for people to build statues of him and worship that statue, so in essence the worship of the statue or even giving respect to the statue is against the message of Siddhartha.

Hijab is not part Islam. Islam consist of the famous pillars of Islam, morals like not telling lie and killing and spirituality of Islam.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postthe so called muslim who supports the ban on hijab is up in arms about someone calling the buddha statue stupid? come on bro, you have to be a troll or a weird figment of my imagination.
Hijab is dress and it is part of culture, fashion and personal habits not religion. This is why I support ban on hijab when people take it as a religious duty.
