Chechens came in very small numbers during the soviet war. I don't think they would adopt the culture of pashtuns and live amongst them.Originally posted by Hallo View Postfighting

That's a nice avatar picture, person who started the thread.
Fun to look at the expressive photos.
I thought the last guy was Pashtun for sure, due to the lungi.
But his features ARE a little different.
Arab, really [khushal says] ? What features look Arab ?
It's interesting, good way to learn.

Probably not. There's plenty of ethnic Tajiks in eastern Kunduz and all over Takhar that vaguely resemble that guy in one way or another minus blue eyes. Most have green, brown or hazel eyes, pale skin and brown or black hair.Originally posted by Kushan Prince View PostI always see the first man being passed as a tajik on numerous forums for some odd reason. Funny thing is, I have never seen a tajik person that has ever looked like that. Some Tajiks must be in a inferiority complex i guess.
This is the part where prince has a tantrum and accuses me of being a Tajik myself as he questions my business in Takhar.

I assure you Tajiks also wear the lungi or imamah. So do Uzbeks in the north west, actually Uzbeks (in Faryab) wore some of the largest turbans I've seen outside of Pashtuns of Loy Kandahar/Helmand/Uruzgan.Originally posted by Catya Sher View PostThat's a nice avatar picture, person who started the thread.

Most Tajiks in the region wear them because of Pashtun influence. They wore hats originally and still do. Uzbek turbans resemble the Turkish turbans from what i have seen and they never let the cloth flow down like pashtun turbans. But most tajiks wear hats because of their colder region.Originally posted by Shabi Khel View PostI assure you Tajiks also wear the lungi or imamah. Of course you do. You're a clown and an intellectual midget. You think the two Nuristanis are Chechen because you yourself are European and have a Europe-centric view of the world and think everybody that looks remotely European must actually be. You've never walked on Afghan soil and insha'allah never will. Otherwise you would know in addition to Nuristanis there are many many red hair, pale faced Pashtuns, Tajiks and probably others that you would probably tell us are actually Russian, German or something haha. Get out of here.Originally posted by Hallo View Posti think two of them are chechen

That is correct, Uzbeks seem to often let no cloth flow. I'm sure that contributes to the size. Also correct that Tajiks wear the lungi far less than Pashtuns but its definitely still common head wear in the north. In rural Takhar many men wore hats made of suzani like this http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=111155188833 in addition to the pakol.Originally posted by Kushan Prince View PostMost Tajiks in the region wear them because of Pashtun influence. you know that a word can change his meaning?Originally posted by Tiger Khan View PostAfghan is Pashtun, and Afghan is an ethnicity... Afghanistani is not an ethnicity
100 years ago afghan was a pashtun.
but now if someone say "i'm afghan" it means just he or she is from afghanistan and we don't have any information about his or her ethnicity.
nowadays if you want to call your ethnicity you have to say "i'm pashtun, fasiwan (or tajik), hazara, baluch etc." .
got it?faye's chauffeur

Nope. I am afghan/pashtun/pathan. Tajik isnt afghan, they may be afghanistani, but not afghan. Since the word has been used exclusively for pashtuns in the past. In the future Tajiks and other people might start claiming Ahmad Shah Durrani, khushal Khan Khattak as farsiwan aswell, since they would be afghans. As is the case with ghourids and Khiljis (Suri, Ldhies etc). So no i would not share "afghan" with anyone else.Originally posted by Hallo View Postyou know that a word can change his meaning?
