^lollll culturaly rich doesn't mean how much wealth a country has...

do u live in america? wht culture would u want america to present in there.
america doesn't have any traditional dress it would like to sell there
america doesn't have any traditional hand made jewelery it would like to sell
america doesn't have traditional crockeries and pots it would want to display there
america doesn't have any traditional food (other than fried chicken and mash potatoes) it would want to take there.

i am just thinking what r u referring as far as american culture goes... do you mean Red Indian's culture, because the rest of america is filled with immigrants from other parts of the world...

we have greeks here, with their own culture, spanish, italian and other european, we have blacks here (africans), we have minorities such as afghans and indians and chinese here... so if these people decide to go to Global village and represent america, wouldn't they representing their own country i.e. greece, spain, italy... etc etc...

Well, at least someone now tries to define it, but I´m sure a billion people would disagree, alongside others disagreeing with their definition.

But it illustrates my point perfectly that this definition of culture certainly isn´t someone with their priorities straight would care about. Who in their right minds who isn´t obsessed with the most meaingless material objects would care about ¨traditional dress¨ (something that´s usually code for restrictive dress codes) or jewelry? Honestly, who cares about that? What value do those cultural items have to people not apart of the culture, and furthermore, what value do they have period? What do they do other than just keep people in age old traditions for the sake of it?

Of course, American cuisine is actually one of the biggest and most diverse in the world, but again, who cares? It may be a terribly inaccurate statement to make, but even if it wasn´t, so what?

i am just thinking what r u referring as far as american culture goes... do you mean Red Indian's culture, because the rest of america is filled with immigrants from other parts of the world...

So...the point being the US is a melting pot. Of course, that generally tends to have positive rather than negative effects. Plus I can´t think of ¨greek, spanish, italian¨ immigrants representing Greece, Spain and Italy? What evidence is there of that?

Also, again, what a mute point, as the website of the shopping center itself said the US was represented. I guess I have to copy and paste what it says:

      ¨American show
The American Country Dance Show features the fun and energetic music and dance of the United States. This form of dance always served to bring and keep communities together and tight-knit, and has its roots in country dances styles of Europe.¨

      http://www.globalvillage.ae/Attractions/ShowsEvents.aspx

You people are inconsistant with the very criteria you´re trying to use.

America lacks it's own exclusive things.
Untrue, but yet agian, who cares? Remember that old saying about religion being an opium of poor people, maybe culture is some self-satisfication that poor people cling on too as well. Certainly an interesting thought...

^i think u are missing the whole point...
i am not going to waste my time if u are off to another tangent and i am on another.
i thought u are talking about american culture (non-existant) not about who cares and who cares not... i thought discussion is about why america doesn't take part, not about why and how tradition is important or not, or whether it is for poor people or rich people...

u r actually the only person i have ever read claiming america to have an "american culture" ... even americans know they got no culture to name it "american"

          Americans dont have culture.

If you call Super bowl Sunday culture, then we might as well call going to a bathroom culture as well.

I guess Hollwood, american literature, american entertainment period, american social and political movements, american scientific endeavors (I know Science is a bad word to some muslims) none of these count as culture. Lol, even worse, this claim seems to be a misguided insult. Only people in very poor countries care about ¨culture.¨

Chances are you never did any research on the topic, or even discussed with people about it (I love the blanket claim, even Americans know, I see blanket claims made here all the time with no proof, you guys act as if people are just supposed to accept peoples statements at face value) so you can´t really come off as an authority on the subject.

People, get some criteria based on facts in the future! XD

i am not going to waste my time if u are off to another tangent and i am on another.
Wasn´t the whole point that the US wasn´t represented at this Arab shopping mall? Well, I showed it was, so you´re clearly grasping for straws on proving your very misguided and ignorant point. Geesh, I mean come on, set your priorities straight.

Who cares about this superficial culture you speak of?

sorry to break to you.... but NO... that is not culture... because culture has to do with ur daily conduct, how one dresses, speaks, eats and etc.and all of this is not originated in america... everything in america is influenced by other countries...

ohhhhhhhhh wait a minute i know what america can bring to global village... they can display their culture of "slavery"... how they had plantation and poor black people were picking cottons... empty stomach... oh and u know . there is african pavillion there too... it will be easy to find some volunteers for ur pavillion...

oh and not every country is poor but every country Does have a culture to call its own... america doesn't because america is a stolen land! .... the real culture of america is of red indians!...

Lol, this is getting old, but anyway, here´s the definition of culture:

Culture (from the Latin cultura stemming from colere, meaning "to cultivate")[1] is a term that has different meanings. For example, in 1952, Alfred Kroeber and Clyde Kluckhohn compiled a list of 164 definitions of "culture" in Culture: A Critical Review of Concepts and Definitions.[2] However, the word "culture" is most commonly used in three basic senses:
                • Excellence of taste in the fine arts and humanities, also known as high culture
                • An integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for symbolic thought and social learning
                • The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization or group

                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultur

All groups of humans have culture, indeed even animals and other life forms have what we consider a culture. My point was I just wish we didn´t have a culture and the dictates of importance were left entirely to the individual. This is probably not possible but at least we can make culture democratic and open, which is what modern society has done and continues to strive for. Indeed the new fight over culture is that of ¨organic¨ and locally based democratic culture and that of globalization and rather undemocratic culture.

American culture is the most influential culture on Earth minus maybe the Roman Empire. American literature, ideas, movements and entertainment easily outmatches anything on Earth in terms of influence. But the problem is you´re focusing on superificial and rather inconsequential culture that no one not born and raised into it could possibly be impacted by it.

ohhhhhhhhh wait a minute i know what america can bring to global village... they can display their culture of "slavery"... how they had plantation and poor black people were picking cottons... empty stomach... oh and u know . there is african pavillion there too... it will be easy to find some volunteers for ur pavillion...
Lol, oh dear, now this is a prime example of pot calling the kettal black and not seeing the beam in your own eyes. Slavery has existed in every culture, and in fact the world still unfortunately benefits from slavery. The UAE is a bastion of economic slavery and of debter slavery, and not only that, the US ended slavery in the mid 1800s, while Islamic countries still have not totally outlawed it. The Islamic slave trade didn´t even officially end until the 20th Century.

Seriously, what´s with people bringing up long since defeated social injustices, especially when your society still employs them. How about making your society more fair and open before trying to criticize others :p

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pq2768LIFzY

                http://www.jihadwatch.org/2009/10/the-islamic-arab-slave-trade.html

Note that one of Americas first wars was the Barbary Wars, which was a fight between the US and islamic slavers, who were capturing US sailors and selling them into slavery. We tried telling them we were not a Christian nation and had no ill will towards Islam, but they said we were infidels and could legally enslave Americans, so we kicked their behinds :P

Lol, Islamic slavery was far more accepted and brutal than the trans-atlantic slave trade. Many in America opposed slavery from the onset, Muslims still do practice slavery. The Ottomans were enslaving Africans long before Europe and the US. Muslims helped popularize world wide slavery.

And again, what a mute point, as the US was at this shopping mall. Do you guys even read the website of the place XD?

No they didn´t, and they still have not. Even if they did, the point being they practiced slavery before Europeans and long after the rest of society abolished it. And Muslims still practice slavery, and it´s really only the existence of the international community and the poverty of Islamic states nowadays that prevent them from practicing an african slave trade.

Sure, plenty of Muslims nowadays probably are against slavery, especially given their experiences over the past few decades, but the point being that a muslim trying to criticize someone else for having slavery in their past is the pot calling the kettal black.

How about you do some research and read and watch the links I gave. And people, I have to say again, find some legitimate criticisms of modern society already. Im tired of doing your fact checking for you.
