I think dhikr is the essence of Sufism. My parents came into contact with a man from Kashmir, a descendant of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani, actually. He was in Canada for a number of years before he returned to Kashmir. I was around 10 when they met him, so I've been into it for about 15 years now. I really like how the bottom line in Sufism is just about preaching love.
