when one Dr whatever grade he or she is is ill or something they ask another Dr to cover... they get paid more per hour than a normal Dr... when I locum in internal medicine I get about £40 an hour.... I do internam medical on calls as a locum so work about 12 and half hours on these shifts and in that shift I earn about £500. A locum GP when they do GP locums earns about £80-100 an hour
