To answer your question regarding music and dancing:
Musical instruments are prohibited in Islam. The prophet muhammad never danced to music, neither did he encourage anyone to play musical instruments or dance.

However, cultural aspects of people are respected in islam. So if people want to dance, they can dance. But no musical instruments. This ruling is applied in different ways in various communities. In Afghanistan people believe that musical insturments are prohibited but people do preform attan. So I dont know how it really works out. I tell you one thing dough. I wont allow music in my wedding.
