In a way you have a point. What was evident first was that there was no disparity between what the old generation of of Pukhtun Nationalists professed and what they practiced; for them belief in Pukhtun ideology, nationalism and action were neither separated nor separable. This imparted an atmosphere of great integrity to their way of life such as I had not seen in any other people, and it was not a matter only for the men or only for the women; no, all of them had this same quality. But a great joy in being with PF members, a great love for them all is growing up within me again. For a long, long time, I had never seen people so deeply, tenderly loving and sincere, with such a glowing warmth and goodness. This fills me with great hope again.
