  • Yeah, I remember that attitude towards the Afghan refugees back then when I was in school. Our Pekhawar people will call them Kabalyaan and majaraan. Today we are in worst situation than Afghanistan. Consider the biggest problems as for now: The demarcation of fields (patee) has been erased so people have trouble identifying their own lands; people do not remember where their houses were so that means more trouble and fights over lands; the fertile lands are all filled with mud and silt after the flood so means more problem; two days ago, the first case of Cholera was confirmed (although some say it is not true) in Mingora which is a terrible news; a number of children are missing and so are their parents, etc.Two days ago the Norwegian Refugeen Council (NRC) head visited the KP (not even considering the risk to her life) and she felt so miserable and angry at the same time. She said the response to this disaster is not as good as was to Haiti for a number of reasons.
"O Pakhtuns!, Your house has fallen into ruin, let us rebuild it".
"I want to see my people educated and enlightened. A people with a vision and a strong sense of justice, who can carve out a future for themselves in harmony with nature".
