ohhhh i see....unfortunetly it happens so much. I am very young to get married, i will turn 20 later this year, but when suitors try to come forward, there is a lot of intimidation. You see, both my parents are doctors, i am going to be a doctor, so people and my family think that i should marry someone like a surgeon. And i find it really stupid, to be honest. But in Afghan culture, social status means a lot. Like if a girl is a doctor from a very highly respectful family, then she has to marry someone who is higher, in social status. If she is poor, then the in-laws find it so hard to accept it, right.
Your family will come around to it, if they see that you are happy with it. It will take a while, but pray for yourself, and i will pray for you to. Inshallah, you will be with the one that you love and makes you happy =)
