    Happy Birthday
Life is like posing for pictures. We pose the way we want to be seen by others. But stolen shots are better. They capture who we really are...

He must still be out celebrating !
He hasn't been heard from yet, apparently.

Well as long as he has avoided that soda pop he warned us all about way back when...

I think we should all appreciate his concern that members all be content.
Notice how he has intervened to lift various members out of the doldrums. Even when he was exhausted, he found strength to try to console them.

Not the usual Admin of ANY site on ANY topic of discussion!

I meant to say that there are thousands and millions of discussion groups on every topic under the Sun.

I have only participated in a couple. The admins would NEVER intervene to HELP anyone.
Only once in a long while they would close down a thread when the insults flew or the debate got too intense. In short, only in extreme circumstances.

I didn't mean to mention this, but the question does bring up what happened to me on my last site. There somebody was insulting Islam and insulting me in the most horrible way short of swearing.
Did the Admin, nearly all of who are actually men of religion - let's say theoretically because this was not a correct behavior by any standards - say anything on my behalf ? No. They all sided with the rude kid and others who were saying the most outrageously rotten stuff about me for venturing to stick up for Muslims. I used to pound in as much as I could the idea of the bravery of Afghans in the face of the Soviet invasion as one example to bolster my assertions about Muslims being noble, brave, strong against all evil forces. Not by blabbing away as many people everywhere are wont to do. The Afghans showed their goodness by action, I explained to this group. I gave lots of expositions about how an Afghan will behave kindly and hospitably in the same situation where someone else would NOT.
I explained all sorts of nuances to broaden the group's very narrow perspective. Nearly all came right from my own travel and wartime reporting in the Muslim world, especially Afghanistan.

No one wanted to hear anything of it, and I was booed off the Forum. The supposed religious people running it never lifted a finger on my behalf, though I was a woman.

There was no chivalrous Admin to rescue the damsel or damsels in distress !

SO-O-O, I emailed a copy of his assertive promise to protect Musafira who had complained about having been attacked to one of the members of the former Forum.

I explained: Here is the Pashtun and Afghan culture that women are shielded from harm! Look at the entire difference in tone here with what was said to me on the old Forum, where not one of the Admin stepped in to give me the right to express my opinion in the calm way I always do.

Other admin's on any other sites will NEVER EVER dive in to rescue anyone like he did to make that one recent case of an injured self-image feel better. He didn't put it off, either.
He jumped right in to make a post to soothe that party's feelings apparently the minute he heard about the problem.

This is most rare, needless to say.

That's the expanded version of my last sentence, in reply to Afghanlady's inquiry.

Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                        -Ferishta, 1560–1620
