Salamalaikum wa Rahmatullah,
Starri masay graano Wroono au Khoando
As I was sitting with my family today and listening to my uncles talk about the usual politics in Afghanistan and all the bad things that are happening in Afghanistan, my heart shrunk and I lost any interest in even bothering about politics, in even trying, in even struggling, in even fighting. A part of me lost hope and gave up.
And I was at a point where I thought to myself, "Tawakal pa Khoday, we can't fix the mess in our country anymore." What is this, no matter what we do, the evil seems to always be a step ahead, they seem to always know their way to achieving whatever it is they want to achieve. Maybe this is because they know how to play their game and we're not as experienced in their ways as they are? I don't know. It is sickening and it is disgusting if you hear all the propaganda, if you hear all the stories, Zrra di da garda Dunya sakha tor see.
But the love I have for my religion and my country goes beyond any measure, goes beyond any explanation, goes beyond any match, is sheer indescribable and incomprehensible for me. Sometimes I find myself wondering, "WHY do I love Afghanistan SO much?" I don't know. All I know is that my love for my country and my people has absolutely no match.
I might not know too much about politics, I might not know as much as other members here know. But one thing that I do know and will NEVER neglect is: If we as this young generation do not fight for our country, if we do not fix our country, if we do not strive for it and if we do not win it, NO ONE WILL. It's done. Us Pashtuns living in the exile are mostly in 2nd generation, we have access to brilliant education, we have access to countless resources, we have ALL the possibilities there are, and alhamdulillah for that. At the same time, most of us are still in touch with our roots, we still speak Pashto, we can read and write it, many of us have been back home, we remember our country, we strive for it, we love it. But yet, our bond to Afghanistan is not as strong as our parents' bond to it. Similarly, our children's bond to Afghanistan might be very weak, they might not learn the language, not have the mentality, not want to go back. So we have the best of both worlds, subhanAllah, and in my eyes we are obliged to take advantage of it. For our own sake, for our parent's sake who left everything behind just for us, for our people's sake who have lost all their hope, for our country's sake who deserves it's brave sons and daughters back, for our Ummah's sake which needs empathetic members.
These times have no room for apathetic Pashtuns.
This world has no room for apathetic Muslims!
Now you may ask, what lead me back to being all hopeful again?
These simple lines by our respected Khan Gul:
People take pride in us, boys and girls; they are praying for us, they build their very and only hope UPON us. If we don't do it, nobody will.
The orphans need us, the country needs us; we think we sit here like kings and queens, remember, away from home every king is a beggar.
Khan Gul's words were extremely enlightening, extremely inspiring. If I lose my own hope, that is one thing. But the older generation bases their hope upon us! Do you think my father has ever forgotten the gardens of Qandahar? Do you think your parents have ever gotten over the void in their heart when they left all they've ever known to provide YOU with an easier life? Do you think.. you can imagine the pain they have gone through when left behind their treasure, their home country? We owe it to them. We were blessed with an easy life and we owe them a lot.
I'm not gonna lie, I made this thread to immortalize Khan Gul's words. In case I ever lose hope, I'll find my way back to this thread and regain it, inshAllah. Kor di wadaan, Khan Gula, Khoday ta'la di Ewazoona darki!
