  • Thread flooding and Mods. Attitude towards it.

Recently I have noticed and I am sure a lot of other PF members must have that a lot of the topic goes off topic very quickly. Every thread I open I have to go back few pages or at least reply to find something productive and/or at least related to the topic. If I can see and feel it why can't mods. see it? and if they do why not they take some serious action, yes i saw admin closing a topic or two and deleting few post, but the question is did it stop people from flooding, NO it did not. I think this is one of the reason the more serious people don't want to participate, like me personally when I post or put a question across I want to see a serious reply, I don't want it lost in countless off topic replies.
I say you mods. need to do more, and if you think you don't need then we have the right to know why these people are allowed to flood every thread?

If I agree with you we w'd both be wrong.

Eusuphxai, thank you for once again bringing this to our attention. Admin Khan recently put up an announcement about the very same thing. The simplest way of saying it is that we have rules, they are there to be followed, if not, we step in and take the necessary action. As for going off topic, I think it is inevitable, however, when things do go out of hand, we do our fair share of scissor work to ensure threads have quality posts most members look out for. If you do feel more needs to be done, or things need to be removed, like this, you can contact (privately) anyone at the Admin level and I am certain your request will be attended to and fulfilled to your satisfaction.

Is there any specific example that lead you to make this complaint?

dude, report those posts. Admins and Mods are not bots who sit on the server to monitor and erase pointless posts in serious discussion. It's not possible, even with all their powers, because there are limitations. They can only check so many threads, so it's everyone duty in here to report posts that are derailing serious threads.

@ jamaludin , I never said they are. and who is asking for erasing the posts? That in my opinion is not the solution, for example i starts talking s**t all the time you will need more than 4 mods to only clean my s**t. flooding means they are in numbers so reporting them will take ages and deleting will take even more time. My point is not every one is flooding but those who do have a big presense and will be hard to tackle them, they should be given stern warning if that doesn't help they should be banned. The problem are the people who do it not the post itself, by reporting/deleting posts you clean the the rubbish, you do nothing about the person who will do it again and again. how about action taken against them. so the mods. who are not bots and are human have a lot less to do and can contribute a lot more!

I don't think banning will stop them from coming to the forum, they can always come back with other aliases, and, banning in my view is too harsh.

People who flood serious threads with pointless posts should be given three warnings, after which, if the offender continuous to flood then their access to post on certain serious forums (Religion, Political Talks, etc) to be removed. They can continue to posts on Hujra, New Member and Announcement, etc.

This way, people will get a chance to think over their certain bad behaviors and habits, and might even work on fixing it. Then, maybe their restrictions can be removed, when the time is right and through the admins discretion.

The thread above is not one of serious nature, in my opinion. If members were to go 'off topic' it makes perfect sense in a thread of such kind. Of course, I understand and side your concern about 'flooding' serious topics which shouldn't welcome too much humour and the like, but in all honesty, a celebrity look alike thread is bound to be one less serious to others and open to different types of replies. If your concern is a particular member, than I suggest you bring that to the Admins privately as we stand by professional values and moral duties towards fellow members.

Stop crying mate. Mahzala made an important point, that thread it says your celebrity look alikes, im sure most of the replies on it are gonna be kinda on the 'funny' side rather than the serious side. And if you see the comments they are all about who you look like, so your definition of going off topic might be another persons 'on-topic'....

GO LOOK AT YOUR OWN COMMENTS,

What has 'get married to me' got to do with your celebrity looks alikes? Practice what you preach....
