  • MOTW #15 spogmai shaglay

Our 15th member of the week is:

    Spogmai Shaglay

    A little something about her:

We the staff think Spogmai Shaglay is a star. Her questions, her queries and her desire to learn Pashto is unmatched and she does this from India - where Pashto is almost non-existent. An example of this claim is parts of Pakistan where people who arrived after partition have often laid claim to being Pashtoon, but yet despise the culture and language. Spogmai has always provided us with critical feedback when needed. She has been an asset for our community and we are extremely glad to have her here with us.

    Thank you Spogmai Shaglay.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Spogmay Guley!!! Yyyyyyesss!! It's about time we recognized you for your hard work around here! There are so very few people around whose opinions I am always dying to know, and you're one of them! I most appreciate your threads and responses in the Education forum as well as those in the Pukhto forum. One of your most laudable aspects is speaking up and sharing your knowledge even when it's not taken notice of by the majority! This, sweetums, is (I really, really, REALLY wanna say THE best but I mustn't) a great quality to possess.

      Thank you, girl!

Guess what? I voted for three people in one go a couple of weeks ago (before I went on vacation) and each week, one of the names on my list has been MOTW.
I'll share a line from a PM to Admin Khan. I don't mind making it public, and I trust you won't mind either: "Spogmai ... I think her positive tenacity is really inspiring ... [and] ... I want the reason for Spogmai's nomination to known to our community here."

Spogmai Shaglay - you really deserved this one!

If I agree with you we w'd both be wrong.
