i don't take the term seriously so i don't apply to it's literal sense. i refer to anyone living in america as a yankee lander. get over it, it's a joke.

..when you get to Atlanta airport, don't panic thinking your plane landed you in Africa. They will be black Yankees.

Thats true about Ealing and Gujratis.Originally posted by torkham View PostEaling is full of kuchis!
You heard of kuchis?
Not kuchyan, but kuchis, gujarati patels, thats right. I think its because they come from a place called Ran of Kutch on indi-pak border.
Also as a coincidence there are Kuchi like people who still wonder about in Gujrat with their camels.

Back in the days i lived in brixton, coldharbour lane, near loughborough junction rail station. In those days coldharbour lane from the junction nearest to brixton tube station was the badlands, every jamaican was a wannabe yardie (gangsters of jamaican origin), cold brutal bad a$$es you didn't want to get caught staring at them.
I would go to clapham, near the common and meet a few brother and then go exploring places around london; bar madrid oxford street, bar cuba ken high street, garage in tottenham, club HQ in camden, heaven under the arches, iceni in mayfair, doghouse and the fridge in brixton, i was exploring in those days. Wild times, hiphop, house music, and proto-techno was hitting the music first time in UK, however the grooves of reggae and blues grabbed me. 30 years on and i still have a vinyl collection of 200+ sitting right next to me. I'll dump em to the highest bidder one day. So your hangout clapham was a trip down memory lane, of my short spell of london life. I was in london a year ago and it has become so ....... How should i say it ..... Full of flamboyant and colourful personalities.

My reggae interest was strictly roots, strictly jamaican/Caribbean origin/export. Here is a sample of musicians i listened to long long ago:
Peter Tosh (and the other band he was member of)
Black uhuru
General saint&clint eastwood
Susan cadogan
Gregory isaacs
Donna and althea
Linton kwesi johnson
Upsetters
Mattafix
Of course i have heard lucky dube, only when he got shot, don't know his music to say if i like it or not.
I havent touched my records for a long time. Though Abdullah Moqori, Bakht Zamani, Aryana Saeed i listen to when driving.Last edited by torkham; 01-04-2013, 08:16 AM.
