  • Question to Admin(s)

Something has intrigued me in this closed thread: (http://www.pashtunforums.com/support...26/#post569119)

"It is extremely disrespectful for you to spew such nonsense, and judge the administrators with your limited knowledge of who we are, and what we represent."

So could you please tell something more of who you are and what you represent?

Let me speak for myself Yasmeenah. You'll get a potted biography by visiting the first posting of my blog, but just to reaffirm I come from a Swati background and I joined this forum within a day or so of it being set up.

This forum is an important platform for Pashtuns with different ideologies and from either side of the Durand to engage in debate and for people passing through to see that despite the 'image' problem Pashtuns have incredible potential when they are united. When we consider the endless manipulation by external powers and poverty that blights us, it is amazing how much resilience we show as people.

Recognising that the colonial laid-down boundaries and the politics associated with it have contributed to the instability on our soil is necessary if we are going to achieve long-term peace and development. I therefore see Pashtuns in Pakistan or Afghanistan as a continuous people, recognising the specific local influences. Whilst there are many continuing issues and one that is often fraught with setbacks, the chance to pull Pashtuns together and to develop an important web-resource defines my own personal hope and reason for the forum.

PashtunForums is one example of a growing Pashtun web presence - which on the whole I welcome. On this forum, despite the occasional flareups, I think there is room for contrasting political ideologies and approaches and it is possible in my Admin role for me to share cordial exchanges with all the different opinion holders. I'm a little 'tough' sometimes; I need to be, but then you won't be surprised when I tell you I have tended to be viewed as a 'strict' teacher when I am in the classroom.

Graveyard you seriously believe that? Honestly? You seriously think someone is insulting your mother when they tell you that you are narrow minded? Don't you think there is a little bit of truth in that statement? A little pinch of it? Honestly?
Personal thoughts are often somewhat bias but yours are shockingly impractical. Learn to admit your own faults. A little bit of them if not all of them. You would be doing yourself a huge favor. Life would be extremely frustrating and overbearing if you continue living in self denial like this. And trust me, I don't intend to insult you it your mother by saying this.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Given how credible your personal opinion of things are, I don't give a rats behind about how low or high you can get while in process of estimating my character.

Wow, this thread is drifting not where I wanted it to be...

GOE, forgive me what I'm going to write. Somehow I am sure you will not like it.
I don't say that I'm right or not. I wanna share some of my impressions after 6 months of my presence here.

GOE, I have impression that your picture of Pashtuns is kind of wishful. There is no one Pashtun archetype. From what I noticed here I can say thay Pashtun personalities are different, Pashtuns have different views. Some users are convinced that they are the only righteous Pashtun here. If someone has different view then he is insulted and deprived from Pashtun identity, accused of being a secularist, atheist, communist, kafir ... the list of insults is endless.

Religion is another issue. I have impression, that if someone who is looking for faith, looked at the forum he would have impression that Islam is a religion full of mutual hatred and hatred for other religions. And yet Islam respects ahl al kitab, and this, unfortunately can not be seen here. Some time ago Karachi posted something about it. I was surprised that members who like discussing religious issues, didn't write a word of comment. My impression is that some people feed on hatred for non-Muslims.

Well GOE, finally my thoughts were not directed only to you.

If someone says that I was wrong, I will say that I shared my impressions only and impressions per se are very subjective, and the feelings and impressions are not discussed. Basic psychology.

Being here I've also met few very wise people with whom I discuss many different issues (by email) and our discussions are without insults.

Graveyard, I have to go out again ... so I couldn't respond to your earlier posting, which I felt was not necessary ... however you have been PMed. Discussions that occur on the board, should really be about building understanding ... your grievances etc. should be flagged up via PMs.

It is true that some people here are exploring religious identity - and they may emerge stronger Muslims as a result. I do not tolerate open insults on the Prophet, his family/companions or the Quran. That is my bias. However, your list of 'atheists' that you make might not be as accurate as you think. Our problem appears to be that as Muslims we present a poor picture of ourselves. Yes, that bothers me.

GOE - I don't remember. So I would say you haven't insulted me referring directly to me.
But once you were not nice and it wasn't about politics or Afghanistan.

I am thankful to PF administration (exluding bls) that they give chances to members to correct themeselves and have tremendous patience to deal with such quarrelsome members here.
Frankely speaking i joined discussion forums to improve my writing power in english. I have studied from a urdu medium school upto 9th class, so my english was horribly weak. I asked for suggestions from many people to improve english. Some told me to read english newspapers, some told me to read english novels. A teacher of mine, who was once a member of hujra.net recommended me two sites, paklinks and pashto.org. I joined those two forums in 2005....bls sahab may not be aware but i saw him active on that pakistani forum...
Coming to the point, i begin to see differences between pashto.org and that pakistani forum. There was apparantly too much pashtun-ness on that pashtun forum. At first i was impressed but I was unable to understand why i have little in common with those members of pashto.org?. E.g there was a thread a thread "pashtunwali in west"...and each member there were claiming they follow pashtunwali in west which was not making any sense...then all members there were of opinion that majority of lar pashtuns are anti-pakistanis and want freedom from punjabis...no one listened to my explanations. Like a typical pakistani i though they were actually afghanis and the site is funded by afghanistan governament. It was dumb of me. I used to post a single or two posts in month there but when became active in 2007 i realized that 99% of members on pashto.org were living in foriegn countries thats why they are so sensitive and are living in denial. GOE and co remind me of those members. At that forum i was not given chance to clarify the situation, wrayun deleted my account with IP ban. But here i was given chance for which i am thankful. Now majority members here know about ground realities and do not live in fantasies any more, thanks to my efforts. you have to diagnose the disease first then treatment is possible...untill now e-pashtuns were going with wrong diagnosis and were kept ignorant of the real situation by a certain gang on internet which also once infected the PF, but antibodies like me were always present to freely counter the propaganda.
                  Thank you PF.
