    Admina!

While i was posting my new thread for giving away my book i thought you could have a "Book Exchange" forum in Kitabtoon category, where primarily people who exchange books with others, buy them, sell them, give them away for free, mail them for free or if shipping cost is paid. Just an idea. But i think it'll be helpful since i have a few books that i don't need and i'd like to have something new to read. We can start by everyone listing the books that they have and the books that they want to have. I am only talking about Afghan/Pashto related books in any language.

May I suggest that in case some of you decide to donate [buying - selling is another issue] I would recommend AfghanJirga.net , where they are trying to translate books of various fields into Pashto. I would say it is a legacy worth contributing to.

P.S @Aryob: Your own site is also a good effort. Just give it a bit aesthetic touches.

who runs that website? we can certainly donate our books to them. But i'd like to know who they are. Not sure why people avoid putting their name on their website.

My site is still in progress, i'm trying to think of better way, a better reason to connect all professionals. manana.

              Aryob,
              I think that's a fantastic idea.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I don't think they buy/sell is going to work as smooth as we assume. I used to operate a different forum that had a marketplace, and the amount of fraud cases we had were ridiculous.

Since you live in Toronto Aryoba, I have few books if you want to read them. I never had the chance to read them my self, except Malang Jan's poetry.

I like this idea. I agree with Admin Khan that the buy/sell aspect wouldn't go well with it. Why not have one member who is willing to receive the donated books and store them. To help cover the costs with mailing out books, PF could set up a PayPal donation account where people could donate any small amount to fund this. There could be a dedicated PF page of book titles available and members could review the books after they read.

manana ghorzang. I am not really into poetry, but history and language is what i'd like to read more on, especially Afghan history by Afghan authors. I have this book that i want to find but i can't. So next time you are in toronto make sure you give me a call
