Salaam Members/Visitors,
A big, big, thumbs up for the brilliant work that Angaar/his brothers have put into the Afghan Pavillion at the Global Village in Dubai.
What is really important about this is that the pavilion showcases Afghan crafts/designs without the usual politics before a global audience. Most the work and items on sale are picked up by European/Arab visitors, so it really is an important cultural platform featuring craft, art and culture, and as Angaar pointed out to me yesterday, the world needs to see that there is more to Afghanistan than the usual reportings of misery and stereotypes of Pashtoons with guns. Most of the crafts that are on sale are actually produced in Peshawar, so one could say it is a united Pashtoon platform. The pavilion has moved location this year and occupies a smaller area, but since it doesn't get any government backing, it really is testimony to individual hard work.
Really, I should have posted up some pictures, but I left my camera behind at home and am still fiddling around with my new phone, so I completely forgot.
Angaara, well done Graana. Dua kawom chi khudai paak de kamyaab laree.
