Your profile image, however, is a bit scary.

So why would you change your name because someone else doesn't like it? There are many things people are going to dislike about us because we are who we are and they'd prefer we be another way. And you can never please everyone. It's possible that when you change your nick, someone else doesn't like it. How many folks are you going to let determine your preferences for you?

no im not tryin to please anyone trust me...They are takin it way too seriously as if I am a real witch...If they dont feel comfortable reading my posts because of my name then im willin to change it...

      Lightwitch!

      You sound really nice.

I was the main one who mentioned this, a little jokingly.
      But actually REALLY seriously.

For people who are spiritually sensitive, a name reverberates through one's system and either gives a positive energy or a negative one.

Your name and picture were so terrifying to me I never realized that you are very religious and have so many amazing things to contribute!

Why? Because witches = Halloween type energy at least in America, as you know.

The BLACK is great. I wear black skirts, black scarves every single day practically.
Black also spiritually connotes - to me - stopping all the outer display to focus inwards. It also shows someone who is serious about their spiritual path as supreme in their life, and is able to shut out all the glitz.

I differ from the poster I jokingly call "Darkina" on every single point.

I would suggest that you change your image to show the good side of black if you want, or some other concept which represents YOU.

As a sensitive person I shudder and turn away whenever i see the word "witch", and then Dark seems to make that a double 'bad'.

You sound the polar opposite: VERY "with it". So I don't think your true self is coming through the current name.

It would be nice to get to know YOU, rather than what looks like a Halloween costume!

I also hate vampires and all these types of things that are trendy.

Perhaps Haneef has somewhat the same reaction, though I can't speak for him.
As a Sufi he is assumedly on a spiritual path and might be similarly upset at any manifestation of darkness, which seems to emanate from the realms of Shaitan to some of us perhaps.

Please don't take ANY offense at all.

But I strongly urge you to think of a new fresh name which shows more of your sparkle of light !

No, it doesn't bother me.. and even if it did, if you like it, it shouldn't bother you either. Especially now, that you have expressed how it has sort of a personal value because it is a inside joke with your sister, I believe what others say shouldn't matter. We cannot change who we are in order to fit in some stranger's perception and morbid ideas of who and how we should be.
It's fun to sometimes stand out and have some people think and see outside their 2 square-inch box they live in. =P

^ Why does a family joke make it good to perhaps offend some members of the larger community here?

Family jokes are relevant for just that: families!

I was going to praise Lightwitch for being sensitive to others.

It's people who brazenly say "Do whatever suits YOURSELF, because I don't give a dirham for what anyone else FEELS " who, to me, have a rebellious spirit likewise toward the sacred and holy in life.

She should not be corraled into this American mentality of self-centeredness by you types who are striving to be as defiant, "liberated" and feminist American as possible.

Do you get offended by reading the nickname "darkwitch?

Not everyone can go around fitting into the box you label for them based on what you think best suits them. Roshina is Roshina and you labeling her Darkina doesn't make her change her nickname or her mindset, it rather makes you look less mature than you presumably are. Same goes for Darkwitch, if she wishes to have that nickname, why offer her an e-personality-make-over just so people don't get offended by a nickname that is anything but offensive?

If anything, you have a rebellious spirit by forcing your perceptions of people down their throats, and condemning anything else. Talk about 'self-centerdness'.

And I am sheer amazed at how you managed to bring feminism into this. This discussion is as far from feminism as it gets, and here we are, listening to you explaining to us that darkwitch is a feminist nickname and that Roshina should rather be Darkina..

^It has a bad affect on at least one person, and apparently two, along with Haneef.
This is the day of Maulana Jelaluddin Balkhi Rumi's death in 1273, perhaps he checked in here around that time.

                        It's up to Lightwitch.

Meanwhile I pray God will send better moderators to replace the two poor examples here.
