I'm not pashtun, or asian for that matter, but I'm curious about a few things involving the Central and South asian areas. I'm just your typical 20 year old Atheist from the Pacific Coast, so there's not a lot to tell right off the bat. I hope I can learn a few things here.

Well, I found it on clusty.com, I've been searching about the history between Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Soviet Union and I thought it'd help to get some peoples perspectives. I already know the Russian perspective, and I figured that I couldn't find the Afghan one, but I did find this site, so I guess I can.
What else would you people like to know? Sure, I'll share.

Hi,
Welcome to our community.
Enjoy your stay.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Oh no, I'm no historian. I'm getting into engineering and possibly going into medical engineering in college, I haven't started it yet though.
But yes, I'm very much into politics. I somewhat associate with the Progressive Party, and I like writing and reading about politics and history, especially cold war history and how it relates to this day and age.

Welcome to pf.
Why are you an atheist? Have ever considered converting to Islam?
Why do you deny existence of god? What do you think is the purpose of our existence?
Don't you agree that the universe has a creator? And haven't you realized yet that the universe must have a designer? Don't you see that it is impossible that everything could come to existence by chance?
Dont you understand that you have been given this life and your provision by the almighty?
Come to Islam, accept the ultimate truth, learn to love and worship you creator. Learn his guidance for you. Follow it, and you will benefit in this life and in the hereafter.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Why am I an atheist? Well, it's the reason anyone has a set of beliefs and ideas, it all depends on the environment. No, I've never considered Islam, probably because it doesn't have much of a presence in Southern California, (I've met only a handful of muslims) but I've experienced other religions. My mom is a non practicing Mormon, and I was a Baptist for a few years. I'm non-religious these days though.
