Well, I am a kakar pahstun who resides in dubai right now but I was born in pakistan, and I always had a really big interest in pashtun history and such,
^ Oh yeah....i have been there twice with my connection flights. When out for a while, not far from the airport...it was around midnight and i could have sworn it was about 115 degrees F.
But it is a really nice place, hope to go there for vaca in the future, inshallah.
Oh yeah ... they go from grandeur - the airport is immaculately clean and shiny ... and some hotels are just swanky - your US $$$ will buy you next to royal treatment ... and I say, go for it.

Pa dwaru stargu ... you are invited ANYTIME ... My Mrs and I will host you and drive you to all the fancy spots ... take you for a ride to the public summit of the Burj Khalifa, have tea and scones at the Burj Al Arab or the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, have dinner on a barge on the Dubai Creek and breakfast at the Marina ... you can go out for a desert safari and watch the sun come down over the dunes and have an exotic meal in the tourist tents, kabsah with Arabic coffee and dates, take a balloon ride ... the luxury is like living a dream.
