Oh my Goodness - I'm ecstatic Badlun... In Wikipedia it says Safis are Mohmands. Is that accurate? Or do you feel they are a part of another grouping ? This could be a boon to my organization!

What is your problem missy? What don't you get about NON GOVERNMENTAL organization? And I know many fine young veterans who love the Afghan people. You are being harsh for no reason.

This isn't the first time I hear this argument. And to be honest, I never understood it really. Yes Arabs conquered the region, bringing with them Islam, the Arabic language, etc. But that happened more than a thousand years ago. Should we all redraw the world map according to what it looked like in the year 1000 A.D.? Or should we go back further? Why stop there right? The Christian Byzantines conquered it before that. The Romans before that. The Persians before that. The Greeks before that. The Egyptians before that. Do you propose that the Greeks attack Turkey and reconquer Asia Minor? Should the Lebanese Christians expel all Muslims? Should the Indian Hindus get rid of all Muslims? Should Armenians take back the Turkish cities of Erzurum and Van? It all belonged to them at a certain point in history.

We don't condemn Arabs, Byzantines, Greeks, Romans and all the others because it happened hundreds and thousands of years ago. Since then, generations have lived there, making it the only home they have. I'm concerned with the situation NOW. I'm concerned with people being thrown out of the only house they have now. If a Palestinian is thrown out of his house in East-Jerusalem, as happens quite frequently, how do you propose explaining that to him? How do you explain to him that a Zionist Jew from New York or Moscow has more right to his house than he, a Palestinian Arab who lives in the house of his grandfather, who built the house on the land of his grandfather? How do you explain to a Palestinian living under occupation that he is entitled to 1/3 of the water that an illegal Jewish settler receives? And one small addition, not that it matters, but genetic testing on Palestinian Arabs has shown a clear connection between Palestinians and other Levantine people, excluding the peoples from the Arabian peninsula (the area from which the Islamic armies invaded), meaning that Palestinians didn't conquer that land. They already lived in the region.

Abrahams children, all of them but they treat each other like worse than enemies. Sad situation in an ancient land!

Miss - I'm in my 70s and my wife Allie died 3 years ago. I'm retired and just trying to make the world better in the time I have left. I wish you the best in your love life but I have no motives other than being a helper.

Ma'am I was a McGovern man in my hey day and visited Kabul on the hippie trail. But I'm one man and can't affect US policy domestically or abroad.

The few good things that currently go on in Afghanistan is thanks to foreign NGOs. If anything, we need more people like Jake.
