• Sanga de? In need of your help!

I am most likely the most confused and embarrassed member here! My father was from quetta and he knew pashtu pretty well and he called himself a Pathan. My mother is a Pathan too with her father from Mardan but none of my parents have name like niazi, haramzai, masood or anything that pathans really have! Secondly I'll refrain from going in my personal life here since I don't want to be a joke as my identity has already been a bloody joke! Despite my parents from Quetta and Peshawar I've had to live here in Islamabad, Pakistan and I would remember my parents often visiting me and even they stopped one day. Been years! Those I've been living with they haven't taught me my own language (pashtu) because htey didn't know it themselves! I look like my parents I look like a pathan and still get called this for not having the accent or not knowing the language or not inheriting the name! Ive been embarrassed all this time because everybody Ive known has been either panjabi, or Pathan and not a confused fellow like me who despite being a Pathan doesn't get called one! I've lost my identity and I want it back! I've been trying really hard to learn Pashtu and I've no one available here a few Pakhtun friends but they are so egoistic piece of **** with their self-obsession that they won't help me out! I couldn't find help on web either except this forum that looked promising. I know I know I should've had some manners and told you what my name was or how old I was or What do I do but I can't! I'm too embarrassed! Just an engineering student, that's it to it.a

My dear Pashtun brother
please note the following.
1. Your search for identity is the first step. Be happy as ignorance of the ignorance is the real ignorance.
2. Be careful about use of words as haramzai, pathan etc. Pathan means kidnapper of children or robber. This is a misnomer. The correct word is Pashtun.
3. As Pashto is not a formal official language in Pakistan , so you need especial efforts to learn it. You need a tutor which you can find in NUML or language intitutes in Super market.
4. People of Quetta or Mardan are pure Pashtuns. This will be not at all difficult if you go to Quetta to find out your ancestry.
5. Join actively the language section and the Basic Pashto course here in PF.

Badlun: Thank you, I will proceed to the language settings. Apart from that going to Quetta or Mardan isn't really possible for me I am a teenager now and apart from that don't really know where my parents are. They haven't visited me for 6 years, no contact/ But someday I'll find it out. *sighs* Oh and sorry for my ignorance in Pashtu. I hope it wil be good learning here

Dude, the section is confusing. Would you be kind enough to guide me in where to start from?
