Greetings! My name is David and I am learning Pashto at my university in America. In addition to Pashto, I am also learning a lot about Pashtun culture and history, which I find fascinating. I hope that I will learn more about the language and culture of the Pashtuns by browsing this forum. I am also particularly interested in the Kandahari dialect of Pashto, but unfortunately I do not have any friends or acquaintances from the city/region. It would be really great if some of the Kandahari Pashtuns on this website could help me with my questions about the dialect.

Please join the Pashto language section and Basic Pashto course and share your questions and comments.

I will suggest that first you learn Pashto as a language and then may focus on soft dialect spoken in Kandahar. Once your grammar, vocabulary and RPS(receptive and productive skills) are stronger then you may specialize in one or another dialect.

True, a lot of Americans are very ignorant about the world, but you have to realize that there are over 300 million people in this country and you certainly cannot accurately stereotype a population that large. I can assure that I am not a Pashtun and I don't see any reason why a Pashtun would pretend not to be Pashtun on this forum.
