Welcome to the forums, 786, and nice to meet you. I have just a very small question. Ignore it if you don't feel comfortable answering it.

Is being fluent in Pashto a requirement for a security consultant in Afghanistan?

wow, surprised at some of the comments here. im simply a consultant, i have been working in this capacity for some time without knowing pashto. i simply would like to learn it to be able to relate to afghanis when i am in their country. it's not a requirement, i just feel it would be respectful and i would enjoy learning a new language.

HA! you want to be "respectful"? why don't you start by by not using our language and our country as a money making venture you war profiteer

you're really something, you want to go to Afg help americans destroy it and talk of respect?

haven't you pakistanis done enough to Afghans?

the best thing you can do to show your so called respect is stay out of Afg

Afg has had quite enough of pakistanis

exactly, if my intent was devious i could have made up any scenario i wished to gain assistance. i told you guys the truth because my work doesn't harm the people of afghanistan in any way, quite the opposite actually.

if i had come on here saying i was a member of a relief agency and would like to learn pashto to help render aid i would have gotten welcomed with open arms. point is i told the truth, if you take it as a negative then so be it, i obviously don't agree.

spogmai shaglay, my mom is from UP, thank you for your kind words and warm welcome. also, thanks to all the open minded members of this forum.

of course you think your work is rightoeus, why wouldn't you

i have heard of coniving pakistanis who have convinced naive americans that they are qualified to work as "cultural experts" in Afg as if some desi knows the first thing about Afg culture

a specific story someone who recently returned from Afg told me was of a pakistani who had gone with American imbeciles as a "cultural expert" to Afg was greeted by the local Afgans with bemusement, a local asked the Afghan translator, "what does this pakistani know of our culture"

the pakistani could not answer the question

on a side note no one would appreciate your help if it was in the context of a relife organization because no one appreciates you at all. the FACT is that Afg is better off without pakistanis running around our land

here's hoping you meet the taliban

                            cheers

you earn your money by harming muslims while serving the crusaders. Theoretically, you cannot even be considered a Muslim.
