Hey everyone just wanted to say hello. I am a USN Corpsman(doc) attached to a marine unit deploying to afghanistan. I joined the forum to get a grasp or basic understanding of the Pashtun language and culture prior to being in a foreign country. Im trying to learn the most I can in 4 months so please bear with me.

Haha,nice one. Im not occupying I just happen to be made to go for medical support. During my time there I just want to learn the culture as much as I can as a world experience.

I will be training ANA/ANP on trauma management/Field medical technician in addition to supporting them on their patrol routes/missions. Im not going to afghanistan on my own accord but I will do my best to be respectful of the customs and culture.

Yes in a sense I will be there for America but I do not support the invasion and occupation. I was forced into my job and into a deployment but I will do it to the best of my ability because thats how I was raised.

But why do you go to Afghanistan? And what about the Afghans who need medical help? There are more Afghans who need medical help than Americans. And what do you mean "I was forced into my job"? It was your decision!

I do not go of my own will beyond the desire to help where I can. I despise the fact that america invaded the countries we did and yes I volunteered for the military but I do not believe in the violence we have created. On the classes we get taught they are extremely basic on courtesies and bare minimum on language. Ive gone through two classes and all i know is how to say is " Go away" and " come here" in addition to hello. That is what we are taught. If you want to be upset that I want to learn please tell me and I will cancel my account here.

You don't need to delete your account! I'm not a Pashtun and I don't have a right to decide about it! I respect your view but you should know that you'll be ignored by lots of users here like me!
