Yes, but not as dry an accent as has been typically portrayed in movies and such lol. I definitely don't sound like Steve Irwin for example.Originally posted by -Gulalai View Postwelcome to PF, do you have an Australian accent?
An to badmash's earlier comment, yes I've heard and seen it will take some time to get use to Pashto. I know it'd be better than going over there trying to speak Farsi to people though. Heard that can be considered an insult. Luckily I know very little of it.

Currently, I'm doing some freight handling. It's night shift work and it's quite routine. Before that I was administrating/Customer service for a agent of the company I'm currently handling freight for. It's not something I intend to make a life out of. It's just a suitable means of income, whilst still living here.Originally posted by Al Hanif View PostMan, I still don't know you well but from what I've read so far, I already want to thank you. People like you with such an hindsight are extremely rare in the West. What is your occupation ?
I agree with your comment on hindsight. It's funny how in our school education here. We are taught and encouraged to use such skills as critical thinking and analysis. Yet it seems we really don't utilize it in a lot of ways. Especially in regards to subjects such as the wars and the concept of 'terrorism'.

The one time you actually make sense.Originally posted by DaZahroJaam. View PostThe line between reality and optimism is very fine. I find it very hard to believe that a caucasian male who happens to be against the war in my country is so intrigued by my language and culture that he wants to waste his time to learn more about it just for the sake of it. The white man is only opposing the war because of how it has affected the economy for him. He doesn't give a rat's tush about your villages being burned.
Now having said all that, I don't expect, suggest or recommend that. This stranger be shunned by the rest of us. He is entitled to the benefit of the doubt like everyone else out there. Just don't be gullible.

As in being on here? I've just been busy with work and reading up on the political section during my breaks. Given I work nights, I sleep mostly during the day. Just becoming more accustom to the routine. Ive also had a friend check out the forum, though I don't think he's registered yet, but he spoke highly of the language resources. I'm hoping to get him online at a similar time, just get his opinion on where is best to start as far as learning Pashto. I just want to make sure I learn it as closely to a local dialect as possible, rather than a westernized one.Last edited by Culler; 05-09-2012, 11:46 PM.

Mr. Culler,
Excuse me I will write something in my own language Pashto and if you want to learn Pashto so you will need to understand it, either refer to someone else or come back to me to translate it for you;

lol.Originally posted by DaZahroJaam. View Posta random person logs in to this forum, claiming to be intrested in your culture and opposing to the war and you are all drooling. Well I don't believe him. I say we dig a hole in the ground and dump him in it... Come back to it a week later when he is ready to tell the truth.
there is a saying that you don't really know someone until you have travelled with, lent money to or lived with/amongst the person.
