      Welcome!

May Allah, the All Mighty, always protect you and keep you near His sight all the time. May Allah Ta'ala be your friend and protector!
Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

              Hi again!
I am Canadian. Born in Canada, never really traveled. I had Christianity forced down my throat my whole life - didn't really understand it (there are a lot of mistakes/contradictions) so I began looking for a new religion. Helas, I found Islam. *yay*
But, after becoming Muslim, I seemed to have completely abandoned what I had as a culture (except I like hockey and winter still). I found I related most to Pashtuns because they are very religious, treat women properly, and really value family. But, as much as I find myself relating closer to Pashtun's than any other culture, Pashtun's don't always welcome non-Pashtuns beyond an acquaintance. I am not saying everyone is like that, but just everyone I have met so far.

                Nazia,
Don't worry! I am old! hehe I am 24. (Thats like past Pashtun expiry date for women haha) I did a double major in university, then teachers college all in 5 years, and I am doing my masters of Islamic studies online thru a university in the Middle East. This means I have no life. I am sure you aren't an old fart like me, and education isn't everything. Trust me!

Did I say that right? hehe
Its not my name. I am still trying to pick a pretty Islamic name. I like Farishta, but white people here can't really say it.
                  Any suggestions?

How about Amatul Musawwir? The servant of the Fashioner (of the universe and everything in it).

we us عبد or عطاء ('abd or 'ata) for males and we use امة (amah) for females to refer to servant.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                            -Ferishta, 1560–1620
