Of course I have taken steps to learn the language.

I can speak dari/farsi because it is my "mother tongue". But I can't read and write. I have an aliphbaytay book and I am going through it slowly hehee...

I watch the "learn pashto" program sometimes on the satellite channels and try to follow it but at this stage I speak better japanese than pashto ... My pashto speaking friends all speak english too so it doesn't help much when all they keep saying is "Singa?, juray? pakhaira? takraya?"

I know I have to learn it fluently eventually.

No, I haven't read the book by Paulo...but it sounds interesting. I've followed Alchemist the manga/anime though lol

Where are the Muslims in here?

I figured that the majority of you were the followers of The Last Prophet and Messanger of Allah, Muhammed, The Arab, sallalahualihiwaslam yet everyday when I come here there is one or two threads and 5 or 7 posts each in which one of you has to say things like "**** the arabs", "I hate arabs", "They are ****". Then another set of at least 7 or 10 posts that I stumble on that has the same attitude towards pakistanies calling them daal khor and what have you. Yet if anyone levies any form of criticism towards pashtuns it's all tooth and nails. With such prejudicial attitudes and base outlook towards other muslims you are no better than those american hicks that look at us all the same, arabs, pakis, afghans pashtuns, latinos and every other brown guy on the planet...the wretched of the earth. And if you are not a muslim and still a pashtun, then I feel really sorry for you because you and I know that real pashtuns wouldn't think twice to slit your throat as qurbani. Taliban are pashtuns even the media gives the perception that the taliban is some alien entity that is neither afghan or pakistani. It is because of Islam that pashtuns take arabs and pakistanies and other
"children of adam' as guests in their own country. Some of you don't appreciate pakhtunwali so you blame the nature of others for 'taking advantage'...really? Since when were pashtuns this fickle minded? Since when did pashtun live in "ideas" and debate endlessly on "right" and "wrongness" without exerting might? Perhaps I am just romanticizing a past that never was ...like the way the japanese fantsys of their brave samurai, or denmark its vikings. Perhaps this is the fruition of centuries old anglo-saxon plan; to split the people of the hindukush ranges from each other and plant the seeds of distrust and suspicion amongst them. Now we sit about tapping keyboards to chip out a new national identity...good luck!
