  • Early video clip from Jelaluddin's Mujahideen perhaps

This 5 minute clip was taken in 1981.

Probably these are Zadran fighters under Maulavi Jelaluddin in the mountains of Paktia, as the photographer traveled with them extensively.
[He did visit other groups as well, I was just reading in a book yesterday
So without a precise label, it is not certain who they are.]

This short clip gives a flavor of what the early years of that fight were like.

Well you could say the Taliban are the spiritual and sometimes lineal descendants of those Mujahideen who took up arms against the Red Army's invasion late December 1979 [an unlucky year].Some like Jelaluddin and others began their fight against the Communist Kabul govt. earlier.

It was tough: look at the weapons they had to transport up steep mountains to get a , vantage point to fire at the Soviet helicopters, a true menace. In the beginning, as can be realized here, the Pashtun tribesmen were not familiar with many of the weapons that fell into their hand

    There was a learning curve.
Once they learned how, they could fire any weapon skilfully.

      Your info is silly.
You are so obsessed with "saudi Arabia"
that you tie everyone in there.

      She is a Kuwaiti.
She saw him on TV and immediately loved him. Sent a message asking if he would marry her.
      He said OK.

So -it was not he- but she - who initiated that apparently happy match.
The rest of the post by Mr MiG The Soviet Aircraft [6 looks like a G in this font] is even more absurd.

You may be envious that you weren't an Afghan War Hero ?
