Mohammad Musa Shafiq (1932-1979) was Prime Minister of Afghanistan. He was an Afghan politician and poet. He became Foreign Minister in 1971 and Prime Minister in December 1972. He lost both positions when Mohammed Zahir Shah was overthrown on July 17, 1973. He survived throughout the regime of Mohammed Daoud Khan, but was arrested after the 1978 communist coup d'état and executed along with many other non-communist politicians in 1979.

i am kind of related to him but due to some extremely negative things i have heard about him, i am unable to ask my parents so that is why i asked you guys.
i hear he killed and tortured lots of innocent people which is why he was shot along with his body guards in what is now known as Ahmad Shah Baba Maina in kabul ? they recently dug out his bones along with man others in a mass grave there.

not much is known about him, but hard to believe of his involvemnet in killing or torturing any one. the communist regime in afghanistan had only targetted the intellectuals, his educational and family background made him a victim.

I don't know that much detail, but I do know at least one of his daughters is alive and he has a granddaughter from her.

From what I have read and gathered, Musa Shafiq (as well as the other 3 prime ministers during the 'gradual democratization' phase of Zahir Shah) was harmless, especially compared to their predecessor kings and/or successor dictators.

He the subject of much torture though after Daoud’s coup and was subsequently killed when the communists/Khalqis came to power .

Maybe your parents or other people aren’t fond of him coz he may have been too liberal for your average Afghan’s liking?

DaZahroJaam, You make such a general statement and accuse Musa Shafiq of atrocities without any proof. Us Afghans are such naive people, despite living in this society and having access to immense amount of education, we still believe in things "we hear" from others as a means of gossip. I would think twice about writing a response to your post if you had made a valid accusation but your post actually made me laugh. If you are unable to ask your parents and still haven't received a response to the question you posted, I will post a valid biography of Musa Shafiq and also provide you with titles of several legitimate books written about him. Hopefully after throughly reading all that material, you won't make a general statment about any politician based on the fact that "you heard from so and so".

his wife was my grandma's cousin so any opinion they might have of him is on a personal level and has nothing to do with his educational/political accomplishments. you are not the first expert on the biography of the man and if i wanted, i could have searched the net for the info. i needed a quick general idea of who he was. spare me the headache and yourself the trouble.
