  • Interesting facts

Since alot of our history is dense and clouded with so many theories id like to use this space to share refrenced facts or a "did you know" page.

To start of with i'd like to share the following Video: YouTube - Complete Pashtun History (part 1/3)

After hearing, reading and seeing false rumours and misconceptions about my people, i decided to put the history of this great nation in perspective in a video/presentation that has not been done before. I decided to make this video not only to educate non pashtuns, but mainly to educate my fellow pathans/pashtuns in the west about our existance as our history is not taught in school, As my patriotism exceeded the standard slideshows on youtube i felt that core information about the pashtuns is rare to find i compiled this information from various webisites, books and other resources of which id be more than happy to share

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I thought Genghiz left because he could not control Afghanistan (wasn't it state of constant warfare?)

Also, what were the Hazaras, Uzbeks, and Tajiks before Genghiz invaded, and his troops settled there???

good job. I like the selection of music too.

        Salaam Unknown Prince,

Well the trouble is historians western as well as eastern are all i search for FAME, and since the Pashtun history is yet to be 'certified' they all give theorys in a frenzy to claim a spot in giving some amazing research and putting in the puzzle to the 'mysterious pashtuns' thats history is only minutley recorded..anyway i got the info from various websites but an interesting source is from "Paul Kahn’s The Secret History of the Mongols" book, theory is that most Ghilzai sub-tribes like Mangal, Jaji, Jadran, and Karot, etc are descendants of Genghis Khan... Kahn says that Jadarin is the name of the clan that Changiz Khan was from and Jaji was the name of Changiz's grandfather who was also the leader of the Jadarin clan. "Orya" is the name of one of Changiz's grandson and "Oryakhil" is a name of a Ghilzai tribe. It also says Karo was the title of a spiritual man in the clan of Changiz Khan's first wife. And now, Karokhil is the name of the name of a Ghilzai tribe. And Also Mongols call themselves Mangal and a Ghilzai tribe is called Mangal in Paktia

And as for the Hazara's, Uzbeks and Tajiks..im not too sure, im not really an expert in there races although i have done some research, i would say the Hazara people are definatly a mix of people and races that settled in hazarajat and before being mongolized they were mixed hellenestic peoples or maybe khushans..and later turk-mongolians, there were also some other defeated mongolian tribes that were ran out of persia these people were then probly isolated by surrounded peoples which forced them to form a distinctive gene??...The Tajiks and Uzbeks id say were Persians originally and definatly having an iranian origin, they then had been conquored and intermingled with many invaders

        hope that helps.

An interesting one for one of our tribes and where they came from, its the Ghilzai tribe, not sure which one of these is a fact but the secound one is certainly 'interesting' lol..heres the following theories.

          1) Ghilzai comes from Khalaj which evolved through time from Khalaj to Khalji to Ghalji to Ghalzai or Ghilzai

2)next theory for their origins is that Bibi Mato, a Pashtun woman whose father was Bitan, the son of Qais, was raped by a Turkish prince, Prince Hussein, who was traveling to the Suleiman Mountains. Bibi Mato bore a son and she named him Ghalzai which means ‘son of a thief.’

Reading the book is a waste of time. There is no credible scientific evidence for any of these above statements.
