Noone did it. Culture and language gives your identity, not you ethnicity or who your forefather´s were. Ahmadzais are of Arab descandt but they are Pashtuns and call themself Pashtuns. They can not speak Arabic and have no more relation with any of the Arab Banus.Originally posted by gadoonwal View Posti found wardagis respected, patriotic and very good pashtuns.kabulzada dear you can,nt change someone,s origin here on net. They are karlani pashtuns.
Qais was known as Qais before the advent of Islam in your national myth. His name was always Qais. He was a Jew and his ancestor was Solomon. He just converted from abrahamic religion of Judaism to abrahamic religion Islam in Mecca. The story of Ibn Sina and all the others are different and were not part of Pashtun nation. So the same logic doesn´t work for them. However, behind every myths there is a little truth. One just need to understand the historical relation.qais was not arab. This name was given to him by arabs after he converted to islam.
was al-beroni,jalaludin and ibni sena real arabs?
Most muslims have arabic names so should we call them arabs.

Why did he divert the whole thread which was about Wardak Leaders anyway?
I would love to talk about Abdul Rahim "General" - yeah sure - Wardak.
There was a mini-discussion last summer but it failed to uncover what I would like to about that terribly corrupt man - I FEEL. I don't KNOW the truth, but I knew how he was back in "the good days" - so what about now?
I was always warning anyone who would listen about him.
But Americans fell for him right and left.
Whyyyy... I have wondered, were they so easily taken in by someone with NO SUBSTANCE, a lot of talk.
It is true that Rahim Wardak is one of the biggest criminals of the current government.
My father met Wardak. The man stole much money that was destined for the mujahideen in the fight against the Soviets. Him and his wife invested in many properties abroad at that time and then I think she died and he stole her inheritence as well [I can't remember the details of the story properly].
A very corrupt man and a liar trying to make himself sound like a true mujahid fighter when in reality he was just an opportunist theif.
The current government is full of such characters.Last edited by Haris; 10-08-2011, 09:03 PM.---

Back to what Haris contributed above,
this is a big help to me.
I have been trying to solve this mystery for some time:
WHY specifically this Rahim Wardak IMPOSTER Afghan general
gives me the creeps.
I can't stand to look at his picture.
I have mentioned here or another Wardak thread that
he was like a Westerner alcoholic type pretending to be a major
resistance figure.
I don't mean to be mean but this is a figure in the history of Pashtuns
and Afghanistan. It's important to pin down exactly WHO was WHAT
BEFORE the time passes and eyewitnesses become less and less.
So suddenly characters like this can be transfigured into great national
heroes. When they were outright villains !
I am so glad to hear the evidence of Haris' father. This is history after all -
no one should be reluctant to come forward with truthful observations
about anybody !
The story of absconding with funds and the especially underhanded
inheritance grab - of his own wife, at that ! - is so telling.
I personally think it would be smart to track down some more detail
and acccounts should be written up with anonymous sources.
Future generations will be so glad to know what really was each
"famous" figure like IN REALITY.
Not in legend, which as we all know, picks up steam over the years
if not counterracted with facts to the contrary.
Like the story of Massoud..

Just quickly read over this thread again.
Many ridiculous claims, least of all that Wardags aren't real Pashtuns but some Paradagh-a Tajik/Hazara/Nuristani hybrid peoples.
And to think, I almost wasted my time writing a detailed reply.
I would very much like to see your sources Albani_Rahmat_Kabulzada (or NokiaWnW or whatever your current pseudonym is). Because without them, your claims are nonsensical with absolutely no factual basis. Anyone can name famous linguists/historians without providing any page reference or even the title of a book.
For all intents & purposes, Wardags are Karlanri Pashtuns until proven otherwise.
The evidence to support this far outweighs the evidence (or lack thereof) against it.
If anyone has any input regarding the origins or Wardags, I would very much like to hear it.
Regarding the rest of the thread, well i'm against the excessive praising/glorification of any tribe. It is undignified and does nothing for the Pashtun cause. Having said that, for educational purposes, I may later post some information with regards to 'Wardak leaders' from the times of Ahmad Shah, Sher Ali, the British invasions, Amanullah, Daud Khan & the Soviet War.---

Wardak are indeed pashtuns, they are from Karlanri as are the Zadrans,it is historical mentioned that Zadrans from Paktia province and Wardak were brothers, there is a story, when both had a cow they slaughtered it,after it the brother Zadran took much for himself and less for the brother wardak, wardak told him to give me the stomache of the cow, zadran refused, wardak told him i will go far away from you and leave you,and this is why where wardak is settled nowadays.
end.High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

Well I do not know the ins and outs of the history of the Ghilzais nor do I know about their genetic make up. It may be possible that they have strong turkic influences but I cannot make any proper statement about that.
If there is strong evidence pointing towards that then I do believe it should be taken into consideration. If, however, it is mere specualtion and theories without any solid basis then I would rather rely on the oral histories of my ancestors.
I see it as nothing to be ashamed about whether I have Turkic, Hazara, Arab etc blood. We should not be such ethnic fascists. But when one claims that an entire peoples are not 'original' Pashtuns without the evidence to back it up, then it is simply borderline divisive (although constructive discussion of theories should imo be encouraged).

Belkul. I also heard this same story.
There is much evidence linking Wardags to the Zadrann, Mangal & other Karlanri tribes of Loya Paktia.
I will elaborate on that another time.---

one thing is to say that Sultan Mahmud's mother was a Pashtun and thus some Pashtuns have Turkic ancestry and its other thing to say 40% of Pashtuns are Turks.
this has nothing to do with ethnic fascisme.Yes i do care if someone is falsely portraying our ancesters as turks and persians and that all for the sake of our margenalisation.
I didn't mean to insinuate that you are an ethnic fascist bro.
I understand what you are saying.---
