By being a strong and globally connected economy, a country can reduce the risks of invasion of war even though it might not have a strong military. An attack on India or China by a stronger country like US would affect the raw material supplies/ manufacturing facilities and back-office/financial services of 70% of the world's economy. So why would a country do that?

You should read about the Golden Arches theory by Thomas Friedman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_...ict_Prevention. It talks about how globally interconnected economies prevent wars amongst themselves by the very virtue of being connected.

And even from the military stand-point I dont think India is that weak. We can hold our own against any military power on our soil. If Vietnam and Afghanistan can humble super-powers, we can definitely bring them down to their knees. We are amongst the top 5 in world's most power armed forces. But I wish it would never come to that. We can all co-exist peace.
Ive heard of friedmans theory, I am not a big fan. If you look at the world during the cold war and after the cold war, there has been more military conflict after the cold war and before the cold war than there were during the cold war.
If robust economies were protected just by trade alone, then why are they the ones that spend more money on defence then ones that dont have robust economies. It is the US that is directly preventing Eurpeans from going to war and preventing japan from invading its neighbors. It is the US that is preventing the arabs from eating up Israel and China from swallowing up taiwan. It is not global Trade that prevents war. Gobal trade has been around for a long time, it is nothing new.
Free trade is supposed to create a win win situation for both parties but sometimes the one with power can manipulate the situation where it will only benifit and thats what usually happens because of the greedy nature of man and a violent conflict erupts, and that is the reason that the ones with robust economies are the ones spending more money than onyone for defence.

You are still an oppressed sikh in India , no different than Pashtuns in

Pakistan. Being oppressed by hindus , prolly its a victory for you and

          you are proud of it.

          Good luck with that.
Brother sikhs in india as much much more richer than hindus.Atleast half of the high ranking officers of our forces are sikhs. Our beloved prime minister is a sikh. And yes they are oppressed...if that satisfies you.
