how exactly is that? did he ever made an attempt to return to afghanistan to bring peace and stability to afghanistan? after he was overthrown. how did he work for pashto? i thought it was mostly Daud khan efforts something was done for pashto.

I am totally anti-Zahir, He did nothing for us, sorry but right now its Ramadan I won't say much about him since he died but all I have to say the most darkest ages of afghan society was during his time. Every development that took place during his living years should be thank to Daud Khan. For he who ruled twice made something out of Afghanistan from Schools, to roads, hospitals, foreign funds, to tunnels and from factories to education system.

During zahir shahs era the country was stable and peacefull wheather you want to contribute that to dawood, thats debatable. when dawood established the republic the country started spiraling out of control.
During Mulah Omar era, I again have to say most of the country was stable.
