Pashtun Ethnic Nationalism from Separatism to Integrationism.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

This is an old controversial article by Adeel Khan based on illogical assumptions. The article carries a myth that Pakhtuns are heading towards integration ( assimilation) to Pakistani polity.Whereas credible proofs exist that Pakhtuns have become alienated towards Pakistan with the passage of time. The then brewing " Pakistani/Islami fervour" undeniably swept the Pakhtuns for the time being, however hollow ideology has now estranged the Pakhtuns towards Pakistan. The turning of political tide in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the feeling of Pakhtun annihilation from Karachi ( the city having the biggest pakhtun population),have changed the political preferences of the Pakhtuns. The article does not seem to have a well-thought and true analysis.

its not natural science. Its just what this Adeel Khan says. So it could be that he is totally wrong.

Its sort of a way to show the agenda of Pakistani spy agencies. I never said I agree with what is being said but in a way it shows us how hard they are trying to assimilate Pashtuns into mainstream Pakistani culture.

To regard just a few hundred Punjab co-opted Pakhutns in the civil/military bureaucracy out of a total population of over 30 millions or the ISI projected fake politicians as representatives of Pakhtun nation will be an absurd proposition for the integration of Pakhtuns in Pakistan.

              Khyaal,
Do PKMAP and ANP abide by the rules set by the Pakistani constitution? If yes, how can we lar aw bar ever unify if they follow and admit a border exists?

A lot closer to the truth than what non-representative internet warriors spout. No credible proofs exists besides stamps, flags, and songs from across the international border of Pakistani Pashtuns being alienated from Pakistan. They (most) are of the same opinions regarding Afghanistan and its wet dreams about 'pashtun unity' as the rest of their countrymen. Pashtun nationalism which exists for a few on the internet is bereft of reality and facts, holding true to its false emotionalism and long-held conspiracy theories (with the ISI holding a larger than life place in their confused minds than the truth). Having some sort of attachment does not equal the conclusion the nationalists blabber about at every turn. I've said in the past, with continuing harping of anti-Pakistani sentiments, Pak Pashtuns are resenting them and their agenda even more. If anything, the Pak Pashtuns are showing their Islamist credentials with their ongoing resentment towards the secular, formerly communist, nationalists and their espousing of pro-Western invader and anti-Muslim rhetoric. I'd like for anyone to come up with a political entity of Pak Pashtuns which espouses separatist nationalism and how much credibility or support it has. Don't say the isi/blah blah is stopping them, they couldn't stop the Baloch from coming up with BNP/BLF.

I agree that almost all the views of nationalism expressed here do not represent the reality. I'm surprised those on here don't see why their train of thought would be a hurdle towards Pashtun unity.
