This seems to be a good example of how local Indics and gypsies etc in the traditionally non-Pashtun parts of what is now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa over the past few hundred years have ended up being absorbed and assimilated among Pashtuns.
The Indic narrative that Afghans killed the local Indics / gypsies/ Hindus whatever or displaced them by force over time in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa i think would have been the exception rather than the norm. Seems more likely that these Indics / gypsies just abanoned their own languages and identities and tried to assimilate into the dominant power like in the article above.
