  • Question Regarding my Tribe.

    hello there,

I am second Generation american Pashtun and i want to know more about my Tribe and ancestry. my Father along with my Grandfather and Grandma left Afghanistan some 20 years ago and Went to America.

i have learned almost nothing about Pushtu from my Family which is sad considering we are one of the most martial people in the world. my Granddad used to tell me that this Afghanistan is wrong and creation of Arabs oil money, we Pakhtoons are Most Democratic people in the World etc. i dont take his claim seriously as one of the main Reason for their fleeing was Strong Belief in Democracy and Secularism.

my whole family is Westernized so all i know is we are Pashtun, Afghan and Sahizai.

my Grandfather used to tell me that We are Royal Tribe and once we ruled Afghanistan from Kabul hence we are Shahizai (sons of Kings) but i have seen some Indics claiming that Kabul Shahi Kings were some Brahmin and Turkified Kshatriyas so i am confused.

either we are Pashtun people that are lying about our roots or we are (if we go with Indics claim) some remote Brahmin/Kshatriya Indics who got Pashtunised over time. (before you guys tell me, i know there is a small Baloch shahizai tribe as well but we have no Family outside Kabul/Mosahi/Jalalabad Region.

Can somebody help me find Real History of my Tribe ?

    Troll ....BAN ....next.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

This guy remind me of some other pahstun in the internet: Myanthropoligies. Westernised.
But instead of genuinely asking about his roots, he instead want us to look like europeans n some shiet. I don't know if you have heard of him, considered that guy was here once with a thread about us being not related to south asians.

I remember at a pahstun history site(no, i'm not defending Ibrahim, only just mention about it) on a page that said some pahstun tribe having legitimate indian(like straight out from India) ancestry. What was the name of that tribe?

These trolls are so naive. They could easily search up an authentic Pashtun tribe name and pretend to belong to it.But no , they have to come up with names like Shahizai and Guruzai and expect us to believe them.

there is a Pashtun tribe Shahizai but the rest of his garble is just....stupid.

Kandahar was the ancient capital and all the rulers originated there. Kabul became the capital more recently but the ruling families were still Kandahari.
"Ancient" capital?. There was no concept of royalty among Pashtuns in their native homeland before 18th century. And in 18th century Kandahar was seat of only three emirs/badshahs, namely Emir Mirwais Hotak, Shah Hussain Hotak and Ahmad Shah Abdali.

The three Emirs you mentioned are were the most important of all and don't forget the Taliban also made Kandahar their capital.
First of all Kandahar is not included in Khorasan proper........the most important centers of medieval Khorasan were Mashad, Nishapur, Herat and Merv. Kandahar was road to Khorasan from India, a region between India and Khorasan, as described by Babur.

Now your claim of Kandahar being the land of kings.......give me the list of Pashtun and non-Pashtun kingdoms whose capital was Kandahar. The only pre-1700 dynasty which made Kandahar their capital for some time, was Arghun who were not Pashtuns but Mongols or Turko-Mongols. If there is any other, then mention it to me.

Edit: Taliban is not an "ancient dynasty"

Arghun is the origin of "Arghanbad" and Alexander the Great founded a city called Alexandria Arachosia in the same place

And Taliban did good by restoring Kandahar to its rightful status
I am waiting for the long list of Pashtun and non-Pashtun kings whose capital was Kandahar. Take your time brother.

Yeah, but they're also as guilty as non-pahstuns(not against non-pahstuns and i'm not saying it's all their fault), when it comes to the destruction of our people. I mean, these members(not all of them) around PF seems pretty educated about the politics in Afghanistan, and lots of them condemn those people(taliban). Hell, despite my dad from Kabul were around those guys and did enjoy the taliban removing haram stuff, he also noticed that taliban are quite uneducated, destructive and extremist. I don't know much of them, but after what i have heard(i don't trust westerns too much either though), i'm not so much for them and see them as something negative.

And it will be better if you lay off this Kandahari superiority thing and expecting others to suck up to Kandaharis. Pashtuns are very proud bunch, very different from Iranians and Indians ..... they have never sucked up to any royalty, rather royals had to please the tribes to maintain their kingdom.
